Not sure if I can agree since there is a massive amount of strays on a global sense, and also many societies don't like dogs.
But I would love for there to be more dogs in the US. Less pitbulls though.

There are 200 million stray dogs and and around 480 million stray cats globally. In fact there are more stray cats than there are pet cats.

I'm with Grendalcat on this, how about we find those strays homes before increasing the global populations of either cats or dogs? If people really want and are willing to care for a pet, there are no shortage of animals that could benefit from a loving home as it currently stands.

There are some stray cats which are feral and can't be adopted by humans. It depends if they were introduced to humans as kittens or if the society was kind to them. There are cases where some feral cats can become pets, but it takes time. There's an island in Japan that has stray cats all over the island and they're friendly to humans because the Japanese love cats.
