Why is there all the sudden an influx of Boomer shooters?
Did people not think about making any 10 or 15 years ago?? Or have a few released every other year or so? Like why now???
I'm not complaining just curious.

There are no such thing as boomer shooters because video games didn't exist when boomers were teenagers, and almost none of the boomers I know play video games even now, except maybe things like freemium games on facebook or mobile and that sort of thing.
This is the correct answer.
Shooters suck. The only good ones are CS, Doom and Unreal Tuornament.

The US military financed a lot of them to influence little Brian to kill Arabs for homeland, and the whole world recieved the crapy genre...

could be, i wouldn't doubt that. but the newer waves of new shooters is nostalgia if you ask me.
i mean me and most of the people i knew back in the day hooked on shooters from unreal and half-life solely.
Well to recall history as best I can, you would be correct in saying that there was a drought of "boomer shooters" for around 10 - 15 years.

It seemed to have begun when FPS games became more popular on consoles and thus had to be adapted for controller gameplay. Best I can tell, the original Halo was what pioneered console based FPS's, and in turn, influenced how FPS games were designed (limited weapon selection, slower movement, aim assist, etc).

It arguably wasn't until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare blew up that boomer shooters really started to "die out". COD being as successful as it is obviously drove developers to prioritise consoles and in turn, design their games to be as much like CoD as possible.

There really wasn't very many games that simulated the "boomer shooter" style from the release of CoD 4 in 2007, all the way up to 2016. From memory, the closest we got were games like Serious Sam 3, Wolfenstien the New Order and Bullet Storm. With the exception of maybe Bulletstorm (which was actually marketed as being a sort of anti-CoD), these were still quite slow in comparison to what existed in the golden era of "boomer shooters".

The turning point and where at least I saw a resurgence of "boomer shooters" was with the release of Doom 2016. Doom 2016 was highly praised for returning to the faster, more hectic gameplay of older shooters. From there onward, it was pretty much clear that there was a market for "boomer shooters" so naturally, many developers jumped on the bandwagon.

So in short, developers really didn't consider making boomer shooters for ages largely because the "Halo/CoD" formula was proving to be more popular.
Hedon sold well, as well as Project Warlock, Cruelty Squad, etc.

Obviously everyone's going to just copy them since they don't understand what made them succesful.

little Brian?
Brian is our word for the 'not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy'.

Thought America had the trading rights for Little Timmy?

Recall hearing that the US Military financed Doom itself. Either way venturing as a action hero or whatever it may be seen is entertaining time to time. It's the conscience mind that becomes sacrificed. Yet, can eventually be healed over time.

I remember the original soldier of Fortune....
what does that mean?
like games similar to OG doom?
cause if so, OG doom still slaps

and i'm not even in my 30's

I got the gold edition which had cleaned up the points for foreign civilians controversy but I cannot see that mentioned now. So maybe I was mistaken.

I really liked the second one only played the demo of being on a ship but it felt like at the time the only game out there with an intelligent response from the computer and kept catching me off guard. a lot of fun both games.
Erm.... Boomer shooters?

The only game that could more or less qualify as a "boomer shooter" would be Pong, and I haven't seen many games going with that idea lately...

i only played the demo of the 2nd as well, i clearly remember the Colombian temple ruins.
then i discovered the Platinum edition for the first (my disc is the regular one). Platinum edition has much more stuff than the disc version, better graphics etc. still play it some times.
it's not just Shooters , retro and arcade style games also keep coming back in the trends once in a while.

They're popular. I downloaded a demo for one i haven't tried yet but it's basically like doom but in this game you're a wizard. it's called Wizrardum and it seems kinda cool.

It's this one
I just played the demo and it reminded me of the original Project Warlock. It plays nice and I like the colorful graphics. Normal is too easy though!
