Well, gas expansion even when you are walking or moving, ensure that you should be able to smell the contents of the fart most of the time.

The smell may or not be there, depending on what you ate.

There was a time where I could not smell even my crap though, a few times during the pandemic, probably due to covid - I did not get tested for it.
