My kitchen cooker had a grill, heat is applied from above by an element. It's still grilling.

Well, I'm not a grill cook, but it might be a Chinese knockoff. Or I could even be wrong.

As one who has grilled with both propane and charcoal, despite the time it takes to heat up, the latter isn't just better, it's the best. The results were magnificent.

I of course appreciate that the charcoal culture is alive and well here on Off-Topic. So many people today use propane grills, which really act as better ovens, than grills.

Local beech charcoal, well sifted, is the best choice. I always have a few bags in the basement.
