They really should put their back catalog on Steam like Sega did. Although Sega delisting the Sonic classics in favor of that inferior Origins collection was a ♥♥♥♥ move.
And there are some illegal ways to play Nintendo's games on PC. That makes Nintendo feel like they don't have to make their games playable on PC anymore.
And yet, they seem to be doing OK regardless…
They know their games won't work perfectly on PC so they just let people do their own risk.
It's like monopoly in video games' world.
They're terrified of piracy. It explains every decision the company has made since the GameCube. The reverse spiraling mini DVDs. The touch screen on DS and Wii U. Motion control and the billions of controller adapters on Wii. Autostereoscipic 3D.
I don't really know enough about Switch to figure out how that whole thing was designed to be hard to pirate, but I betcha it was.
And I'll never buy a Switch for those, so they're only losing money by not doing it.
Exactly my take. A first, as far as I can tell. A corporation that doesn't want an easily-obtained entire market segment. "We want to sell our consoles, though."
Well, you have an entire market segment that won't ever buy your consoles, but who would also buy your games in a hot second. Half of whom are finding ways to play your games on PC anyway.
But you don't want our money. That's cool. Strange, but you do you, Nintendo.
EDIT: I do believe it's inevitable that they will be on PC eventually. Sooner or later.
Honestly.
There is this thing where if every museum had something and they said it was authentic comes to mind.
Know when searches in steam history bring this to the for front of a off topic the AI is available for sale. Nintendo is not. However many NES SNES N64 inspired developers have let there games be on steam. Anything with the Mario will not be allowed, Link might find it's way with a shield mostly by modder community, and bringing in the all star cast of donkey kong and so forth would cause ....
Do not have the privilege nay may say Honor to even make this post and still do not worry for the ban to happen for posting it even if momentarily. Nintendo may have me struck down by ninja's of the emperor for even thinking could mention this on STEAM and feel gratifying.
