Does having ABS makes me better a rider ?
My bike already has ABS and I wanted to upgrade to another bike but the one i'm trying to buy does not have ABS, its an old model that is affordable for me. I heard Pros doesn't use any electronic.

Getting rid of it will probably make you a dead rider.

If you're a "Pro" then you wouldn't need to ask this question.

Therefore, it'd probably be wise for you to get ABS.

No, but it can help in extreme situations. But it wouldn't stop me from riding the bike I like. Without ABS, you simply have to ride with more foresight and caution.

It doesn't make you a better rider, it's a crutch.

No, it is there to help you out in extreme situations, but can also be counter-productive in some. Not even talking about when those systems happen to fail in the most inconvenient situations and you don't know what to do.

To learn how to drive for real, you need to learn how your car works and behaves, including its assistance systems.
Even dogs are smart enough to press a forward button and turn a steering wheel without understanding what makes the big metal box move. Unfortunately, most drivers on the road do no different, which is quite dangerous.

Don't be a dog, become a real driver!

A good driving school teaches you how to be a real driver. And an additional driver security training, offered in many countries by automotive and racing clubs, can teach you how to handle extreme driving situations in an enclosed environment.

The way my dentist explain it to me, it comes down to whether or not you want to still be able to turn while under hard braking. Non-ABS bikes will lock the brakes and go straight off the road.

I've known enough bikers that have had terrible accidents to recommend every possible safety feature.

Of the eight I can think of, at least four have been hospitalized on a ride, and one of those ended up permanently disabled.

I'd never try to talk you out of biking, of course, because enjoying life is as important as preserving it (or even more so), but I AM gonna try to talk you into doing whatever you can to protect yourself.

I know one that died, one that was permanently paralyzed for the waist down, and watched one die at an intersection when their wheels locked up and they went "through" the back seat of a car they T-boned in an intersection. Well, most of their body went through - Their cycle and some bits and pieces of them stayed in the back seat. The rest ended up about sixty feet away as a bag of meat. Lucky for them they were wearing their riding leathers! (Excessive speed, ran a red-light, no ABS I bet or they were just doomed at that point.)

(In High-School, my friends and I would sit in a fast-food restaurant at the most heavily accident prone intersection in our town... and watch the accidents pile up every weekend while grubbing down on bad fast-food. That cycle accident won't leave my brain.)
