Why are some people masochist?
I don't understand how anybody could enjoy pain and suffering...

The body only feels pain, or so that is taught from the basic's of what I learned in collage

However what we define as pain to start with is just bulk stimuli. When you get tickled, your not feeling joy or simple tickling, your feeling pain that is quick and with hyper-low reaction which causes your brain to react with a laugh.

All stimuli, regardless of how you feel it, is the same, pain is no different then pleasure, the difference comes down to simply how intense your body registers it and the intensity of the reaction.

This may sound strange but a climax obtained during sex shares the same stimuli reaction akin to a sharp pain resulting in a near blackout for the body, the difference comes down to how the body registers whats going on.

Your body actually can even obtain a horrific trait if you loose a limb but your body reacts as if the limb is there known as a Phantom Limb. Basically the limb itself no longer exists, but you 'feel' as if its still there, the result comes from damaged nerves which are actually shooting out the stimuli of pain of such low amounts yet the body still registers it that you do not notice the pain and only think the limb is still there.

Why are people sadistic? Why are some into watersports while others enjoy being asphyxiated?

Just kinky people doing kinky things.
While it is obviously a bad thing too, being a sadist is a lot more normal and a lot less controversial than being a masochist.
Being sadist involves causing pain to others (not to yourself)
Being a masochist mean you want pain (a very horrible, unbearable feeling) for yourself.
If being sadist is bad (and it is bad) being a masochist is 1000 times more bad.
The well being of the self should be the absolute top priority of any individual.

How is being a sadist worse than being a masochist? From a societal-welfare point of view, you would want more masochists in society, because they are not a threat to other humans or animals.

i think people oversimplify things, ie sometimes there is no alternative and what people call pain, is just a necessity, as an example drinking cofee often causes heartache as a sideeffict, its not always or perhaps never pain is chosen as primary effect. perhaps they assume pain as a sideeffect for something else they willing to sacrifice.

I'd say sadists and masochists are both bad.

Being a sadist means you like to hurt others, while being a masochist means you like to hurt yourself.

Either way somebody is getting hurt, but I guess from society's standpoint, sadists are worse, while to an individual standpoint, being a masochist is worse, but either way I'd say both sadists and masochists are bad.

Everyone is slightly sadistic. Like when someone accidentally bumps their head or falls over, though most don't take it to extremes.

I think masochism, though rarer, is more accepted because the pain is done to yourself and not others. You wont get masochists hunting people down in dark streets to torture for their own pleasures like you might with a sadist.

i think its just demagaugery, by that people living in 3rd world country experience and inflict pain on other just because their economy is in shams, but instead of helping most developed countries take advantage of it, so you could say entire world is inflicting pain on itself and others. they simply hypuicriticaly choose to ignore results of their actions while pointing fingers elsewere.

You mean like if somebody were to hurt you, you want them to be punished?

Also, if a person is both a sadist and a masochist they would be some of the worst people because that person would hurt others all the time and they won't care about any consequences.

First world taking advantage of third world countries?

I'm guessing they're trying to use them as examples of bad countries as an excuse to not fix their own problems?

Actually now that I think about it, this would make sense.

It may even be possible that first world countries are trying to make themselves third world countries.

Reminds me of the Angel of Pain.
There is a myth that there exists an Angel who embodies pain, a female wrapped in a tightly bound bandage 'suit' where her arms are restricted to being crossed in front of her, her wings are wrapped in a layer of barbed wire and restrained by three double ended fish hooks, a cloth is wrapped around her eyes at all times to prevent them from seeing who is causing the pain.

The Angel of Pain is both, a Sadist and Masochist because from what i recall of the myth, she only survives by feeling pain, she cannot eat or drink, and her other mood of releasing stress is by forcing pain on others by unknown means.

This is not a punishment, this was her request to be the one who carries the worst pain a human can feel and the worst form of pain a human can also cause upon another.

outsourcing jobs and paying them 5 dollars a month yes, for hundreds of years all the lesser developed countries were colonially exploited which is why their economy is still in shams.

That angel of pain seems more like a demon than an angel if you ask me. I don't know how this would be considered "angelic".

You would be correct, now in another example its how Satanael is no Satan, rather, Satanael is an angel who forfited his position in heaven and as an angel to be an agent of god who goes out and undoes the deeds done by demons by use of force, an action that angels cannot do.

These people have willingly given up their place in heaven to take on the duty that no one else would. Satanael ironically is the brother of Satan, which while yes is not in the Bible, does come from the book of Satanism itself which explores the realm of things that the bible did not speak on for much.

To not derail this topic anymore then I accidently have, their people who gave up their heavenly pleasures and life to take on the duty that no one else would, Satanael is the """soldier""" of heaven that does his duty aggressively, the angel of pain took on the suffering and pain of humanity so it would not suffer it and so on and so forth. Their demons yes, but their willing demons.
