PC Prices Are Staggering

It does not even seem to be worth it to build a new pc. For the price of building a new PC I can have a custom made guitar with change left over to buy a bunch more cool after market parts for the rest of the guitars I have. And maybe a new amp and cab. If I am gonna spend 3,000$ to 5,000$. It sure as hell is not going to be on a computer.

I spent $2400 CAD on a new DDR5 computer earlier this year. I dont care about resolutions beyond 1080p, and I don't play much AAA, so it's fine for me. I bought an Ibanez S670QM a few weeks ago as well /shrug

Building will always be less expensive than buying pre-built. Plus, if you chase the best expensive graphics, such as 4k ray-tracing, you’re going to have to break the bank.

Just remember, graphics don’t make a game. They never have and they never will. All a game needs in that regard is a good art style. Now that I saved you thousands of dollars, you can get a decent one for under $1.5k, or under $1k in some cases.

As a PC gamer, I say PC has nothing special to offer compared to consoles except M/K, which is the reason I play with it. Consoles are much cheaper. Their games always work fine and never have bad optimization or other technical issues, even for the worst games such as BF 2042, Call of Duty, Alan Wake 2, etc. Consoles always work fine.

especially now that both Sony and Microsoft offer gaming subscription services. Consoles are for gaming, Just like Mobile phones are for calling. The companies just need to make people use M/K on consoles and then everything will be 100% all right.

TBH, What does mean PC master-race ?? Just because you can attach a Nvidia 4080 video card and 32GB of RAM makes it master-race? Then what? What to play? Most of the great games are Sony and Nintendo exclusives. Most of the PC releases have optimization issues even for high-end machines.

Look at it. I never saw the gaming industry become like this deserted. I never remember when I had nothing to buy in a global sale.

- AEW is a wrestling game that doesn't have enough content and has only 20 players on Steam, and you never get any chance to find players to play with online. If people play this, they would play on consoles.

- The last of us, part 1, said that the game still has optimization issues for many people, and it didn't have any updates or fixes for 6 months.

- Other games I was waiting for this year messed up too, like Payday 3, Company of Heroes 3, and AC Mirage. How payday 3 developers didn't have enough time to release a polished game when their previous game was released 10 years ago? Back in the day, like in the 6th generation, you barely witnessed a badly optimized game after release. Now, some people say to OG gamers that you are getting old. This has nothing to do with getting old; it's the gaming industry that's getting worn out.

everyone that knows even a bit would laugh at you for suggesting that site
if there is no review of that cpu then there isnt
but pulling up the worst site possible? terrible mistake man
the 7700k was and still is better at gaming than that cpu
the 9900k is better than both
the 5600x is better than all of these

"Because I said so" was a laughable choice for a source of technical information though. Almost as laughable as using that appeal to popularity fallacy.

You should start a website so you'd have something to link to in forum discussions.

A decent gaming PC isn't cheap, but the good thing is a good rig is future proof for a few years. I built a gaming PC around a year ago and it came to around $2500 in total but I know I'll use it for at least 5 years. Just the monitor and GPU alone came to around $1500.

I got a ryzen 5600 and gtx 1080 with 16gb ram and ssd etc for £400 which someone made and even offered to deliver to me. It used to be all about building your own but i really think now you can get away with buying pre builts for better value depending on your needs.

Personally, never spent more than $1k on a gaming PC.
Built my first in 2011 for ~$800.
Replaced the GPU every 4 years for under 200 (R9-270X in 2015, RX570 8GB in 2019)
Built a new one in 2020 for ~900, re-using the case/fans/GPU + free Win10.
Replaced the GPU this past spring for $250 (RX6650xt)

You don't need $500 CPUs and mobos, or $1k+ GPUs & monitors, to play games.


edit: this is like saying "car prices are staggering", and then only talking about $100k+ supercars.
