PC Prices Are Staggering

It does not even seem to be worth it to build a new pc. For the price of building a new PC I can have a custom made guitar with change left over to buy a bunch more cool after market parts for the rest of the guitars I have. And maybe a new amp and cab. If I am gonna spend 3,000$ to 5,000$. It sure as hell is not going to be on a computer.

it depends on its use, for example a retro gaming machine can spare gpu for apu and it runs most games in 1080p if you dont need newest ones. most games today only require gpu in case if you want latest ones which is like probably less than 1 percent of all games on pc.

I honestly wanna see the pc market come out with a 4 foot tall by 8 foot wide panoramic gaming monitor. Or something like that. Cause I would like something for racing sims or games like war thunder. I hear that a projector on a screen would be a good option. But that seems like it would take up a huge chunk of space.

Yeah. 3K for just a high end pc build. Not counting the monitor or ups to protect the computer from electrical damage.

I would get a Steam Deck or ROG Ally. At least you're getting something portable and you can get a dock/hub to use on a monitor.

This only seems to be remotely true if you are buying top of the line components, like an i9 14900k ($580) and a 4090 G.P.U. ($2000), but top of the line components have always been absurdly expensive.


The main thing that differentiates a normal computer from a gaming computer is the discrete G.P.U., and if you're just buying a 3060 ti, that will only set you back $350. An i5 13600 also looks like it's only $350. A 32 gigabite pair of DDR5 R.A.M. sticks is $135. An M.S.I. Z690-A motherboard costs $140. You can buy some case random case for $150, and an NZXT C1000 P.S.U. only costs $180. That only comes out to about $1305 for all the parts.

Considering how hard inflation hit post-pandemic, that seems pretty reasonable to me, and if for any reason you want to have a better the C.P.U. or the G.P.U., you have plenty of leeway to increase the budget for better components before you hit $3000!

Yes its true AM5 and above like tempest is saying is expensive, but then again op is not going for stock market or working on oil company now is he? he is gonna play games and creating music. hence my comment on why he would need a high end GPU/CPU anyway unless if he is doing some machine learning and statistic analist as a side project?

100" 4k 144hz TVs are a thing and 100" monitors are available. They aren't cheap but that is to be expected as they're quite niche.

That's just the thing. If there were massive curve panoramic monitors. And the current generation of hardware could actually run games at such a crazy resolution. Then I would consider spending 5K on just the computer. But I have not seen any computer rig run anything like that. Nor am I interested in facial recognition technology.

there is no actual computer parts that combined cost more than 10k which some youtubers claim is a thing because all they can spend the money on is just storage and claim thats a very expensive pc
a 4090 asus strix oc is like 2k
7800X3D is barely 450
1tb nvme is less than 300
4tb storage hdd is less than 200
good psu is less than 500
good motherboard is like 300
good ram is less than 200
there is a few more but this is not a good excuse to say a pc needs 10k

and if you get a Mac instead you pay more for less performance, up to twice as high a price for identical specs compared to if you build it yourself.

I just don't wanna deal with the learning curve. I am not sure how I can set up a panoramic projector screen that would be lensed shaped.
