Brits don't hate Americans at all.
Most Brits consider Americans as their outspoken siblings.
Sure, there is often some fun poking going on, but deep down Brits are very aligned to America and it's people and their ways.
I have spent a lots of time in the USA and they are a great people.
Some Americans do have an odd idea of how Brits behave and weirdly the British media project that stereotype back at Americans. Truth is that Britain isn't as quaint as some Americans believe. The most weird, is the way that the seems to be this misconception that all Brits speak with a cockney (poor Londoners) accent, which, thank God, they don't.
No he definitely got it right.
Flats are apartments in British terms.
truth be told most brits probably don't know an american and most americans honestly just hate british people for existing.
Not true at all.
Maybe the american stuff is cheaper?
Cheap is great, until later when the real cost comes out. Cheap smells like, Jobs going over seas.
I think to myself "HOW ARE YOU ALIVE!"
usa english is vulgar.
usa also has way to much cultural influence.. destroying our own customs anc celebations and introducing feasts and habits thar jist do NOT belong on my country.
why is our news now reporting the usa primairies.
we didnt do that a decade ago nor is it of any relevance to us Dutch
idiot feasts like halloween do NOT belong in our nation again did not see that a decade ago.
black friday, sweet 16 more idiotic things nobody did here a decade ago.
and why are people giving gifts with xmas.. thats what 5 december is for.
and I really hate that stypod santaclaus.. as we have sinterklaas the original.
meanwhile our traditions like sint maarten, driekoningen, vastenavond (with the klapperzak) have been all but eradicated..
britain has far less severe an effect on us.
thus usa is hated for the cultural destruction it does.
also americans being badly educated and not able our nation on a map or get mad when we speak our own language in our own country.. such stuff not goes well with us.. either..
american tourists have a reputation of being loud.. demanding and expecting the whole world adapts to them..
britisch ones are considered polight .. but they do tend to drink way to much...
Interesting view, not entire sure it is accurate but
Even British English is not exactly "proper"
But that language is kind of long gone, much happened to it over the millennia's
American English is simply a more rapid evolution, instead of heavy Saxon influence
it is a mass rapid influence of everything else (except the Saxons)
Yes, it is a confusing mess of sometimes contradicting bases, at least to those not born here.
It was invented on the fly so to speak, in a rather short span of time and is full of regional dialects that can even confuse Americans.
"Proper" is in the eye of the beholder
Holidays?
Don't mean to offend but you have to go look at the church regarding most of those.
You mention some but they are not really Nederland holidays, those are Christian ones.
Christmas?
I do not celebrate that, it is a dishonest holiday
Halloween, I can do Halloween, it is honest.
It is about the only holiday I observe, except we call it Samhain and it is not American
it is well, kind of British in round about a way :)
And Halloween is Irish.
I don't know who makes holidays popular there, but it is not me, look at who is popularizing them and club them a bit?
Sweet 16 is not American, it is just the American adaptation, you must thank her Majesty Elisabeth I for that, but if you are not a girl, then you are globally immune :)
America is a land of 10 million holidays, and most of them came from someplace not America.
Remember, it is a country of people, who came from every place except America.
Badly educated is not really true, I know where the der Nederlanden is quite well
so does probably everyone I know.
You simply only remember the people who don't know anything, same as everyone else
if I give you 1000 normal people they won't mean anything and won't ever register to you, i give you 10 morons and you will remember them for life.
Same with tourists.
Know how many Nederlanders people remember here?
Only the idiots, no one remembers the 5 million normal ones, only the 10 blithering idiots.
EVERYONE has 10 blithering idiots, they may even be all related.
I think we Sächsisch drink more than the Britons?
We can put some sausages on the fire and find out, that would be fun.
I'd say make it a holiday, but we already have one like that.
I should have thrown the ps2 out the window when I first heard it on GTA San Andreas, it annoyed me so much.
I had never heard it and now I had and it was on a game , people would only say it and more rather than do the right thing and commit blood sacrifices upon the altar of darkness tell them to speak properly and if they choose not to then any time that person speaks ever after one should say 'talk to the hand' and 'you go girl' .
Makes me want to go back to smoke signals.
The English language is littered enough with the brain-dead unable to be able to express themselves as themselves and always having to refer to phrases found in Shakespeare put on repeat for DECADES of use to the person and CENTURIES passing from generation to generation.
Then in the early 21st century I am assaulted with 'my bad' .
Even my stray cat would have growled at it and he talks like Trump.

Sigh. These people know nothing about actual history. Never will.
