Bullying is just not fun anymore with all of these contradictions :(
Here's what I think is happening:
We live in a time where the wealth gap is the highest it's been in a century. We're talking pre-Great-Depression levels of wealth inequality. Historically, this kind of inequality hasn't worked out well for the rich, as the proletariat have a tendency to get fed up and drag the rich out of their ivory towers by the hair over to the guillotines.
Of course today I'm certainly not advocating for the literal beheading of the rich, but we'll call it a figurative beheading.
So in 2011, a little thing call "Occupy Wall Street" started up. You might have heard of it. I believe this movement spooked the very filthy rich a bit, and I believe they did what they could to dismantle the movement, possibly including using inside agents put there to sow chaos and stir peaceful protests into violent ones so the police would have an excuse to step in and put a stop to it.
But I digress.
Ever since OWS, the "woke" has accelerated. I believe this is by design and part of a campaign to pit us against each other.
Let me explain; The very rich have financial control over the media, including our entertainment media. If you watch the news, you would think we were basically living in the apocalypse. It's so sensationalized and designed to be terrifying and enraging. That's part of it.
Some of us might turn to escapism instead of paying attention to the "news". You might go to a new release of your favorite action movie series, only to discover that the main character is apparently now a gay, transgender black woman and the whole film keeps reminding straight white men what horrible people they are for existing. They know these "woke" issues are unpopular, and that's why they are doubling down on it. It's to piss you off. They need you to be mad. They want you preoccupied with it. They want you to go online and fight with others about it.
Why?
Because it's stupid, and it doesn't matter, and it will keep people from finding common ground. They need us fighting each other so we don't turn around and start fighting them instead.
The millions Disney will lose making terrible Marvel or Star Wars movies is a small investment. it's pennies compared to the literal trillions they stand to collectively lose if people actually fought for their fair share.
If you're under the age of, I don't know, 50 or so, you'll probably never own a home. What you earn will never get you as far as your parents and grandparents. You'll be a wage slave until retirement age, then you'll probably still have to continue working because you have rent to pay and social security will have dried up by then. You should be furious, and you might be, but right now you just want to forget about it and play some video games, but you can't even do that because they've hired a bunch of activists to replace actual designers and instructed them to ruin your favorite franchises. So instead you're going to go online, complain about it, then doom-scroll for several hours until finally you get tired and go to sleep.
It's "Divide and Conquer" in action.
Many people are indeed angry at them no longer being the teacher's pet of the entertainment industry. Time comes at you fast and many people don't take well being run over by new times.
They're the actual version of their grandpas shaking their fist at the radio only playing 'that darned rock music kids like'
Nah it is very clear what it means. Reactionary is a good term to describe posts like yours, which don't answer OP's question nor add anything. The word just triggers you and you react with your default go-to opinion, which is not even yours.
We know it but the "socially aware" ones don't. Lol.
Aww... isn't that just too bad. Makes you think.
