Because Tomb Raider is just by product of its time, and it is sort of ♥♥♥♥ game and same goes to uncharted.
Oh wow I was trying to make it controversial but I guess it didnt work and it didnt help the fact I love both games lmao.
But I was giving an example, but I guess it was both bad and vague.
Mechanics was clunky granted but navigating the traps and puzzles without having your hand held was really cool even by todays standards. The original TR eclipses all the reboots that put action, survival and crafting over the game brands core elements and is simply still the best TRs ever.
Sadly in the age on the internet thats going to be trashed by people uploading how to videos and thus making people think its just a pointless clunky old game.
So when someone says unchartered is better they are simply ignoring the original is the godfather to all games of that ilk there after and are judging it on technology rather than concept.
Don't care much for 2013 and beyond, game has lost its charm and become generic Witcher wannabe.
Having said this I enjoyed the Lara Croft isometric games (eg Guardian of the light), they were unique and quite nice graphically even by today's standards.
I think that as a console exclusive (back then the most important and hyped one as far as I can remember) Uncharted was embarassing.
The gaming industry is in a bad shape lately, but not yet THAT bad.
I feel sorry for you if you believe that Uncharted is one of the most important first party games, the world you live in must be very sad.
Back then on the PS3 it was marketed as one of the most important first party games for the PS3, and PS3 native exclusives are obscenely disappointing.
On the PS2 there were God of war 2, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Even just one of those three games is better than all the PS3 exclusives combined.
Not to mention all the great third party exclusives like Soul Calibur 3 and Kingdom Hearts 2.
Oh I also forgot Gran Turismo. And Nintendo first party games also. And the first party games on both Sega and Nintendo in the 16 bit era.
If we talk about native exclusives even the (overall pathetic) PS4 is better than the PS3 thanks to God of war 2018 (and some people would also mention Bloodborne... I don't like it, but for sure it is more interesting and worthy than Uncharted)
Nice opinion, ty for sharing your hot take.
(that last part may or may not be true)
Indiana Jones was the first one to arrive the scene. He is the PIONEER. Comics, Movies (Ahem.. Harrison Ford), all sorts of Video Games, Books...
Tomb Raider was the second and featured the first Female (our Lara) to get into this "thing". Year is 1996. It took video-game World by Storm with just the first game. By 2000, it had a huge HUGE fan base already.
Then Uncharted arrives but it is 2007. Very late. It may not be bad but it has to accept the status quo. Though, no harm at making a new franchise. There is room for everybody.
