If not then my main will still be a male, but maybe I'll make a female character for fun sooner or later.
In most games that isn't even an option, so we can skip those.
For those that do have the option, it very much depends on the game. If there's a significant relationship system, I'd generally go with the male protagonist so I don't have to hit on male characters. If no such system exists, I go with a female character because they generally look and sound better.
Pandemonium, female is acrobat, male is jester. Jester sucks, don't ever use him, use female.
No Straight Roads, female can shred the guitar, male can bang the drums. Use both.
Ninja Gaiden, female has one weapon, male has truckload. Use male.
and so on and so forth
'man card' is that like the cards you get in the witcher for having sex with people?
Apparently a whooooole lot of "Man cards" were destroyed by Lara Croft back in the 90's.
(also kind of amusing that "Man cards" can be destroyed by being a horny teen boy.)
edit: given your posting history, I'm quite glad not to have one of these supposed "Man cards", if that's the attitudes they coincide with. It's amazing how weak/fragile/fearful these apparent "Men" are in the face of The Dread Woke(tm) and similar things.
Ah, yes, well, don't you see, boys aren't men. If you haven't stopped playing as females in vidjagamz by a certain age, you legally don't achieve the status of majority and the registrar's office withholds issuance of your card.
