I am a realist. If I know how bad the situation is I won’t sugarcoat it. Doesn’t mean I’m always a downer. If I am confident in something then I will hope for the best and expect the worst.

I'm going to accidentally miss the ground. When I do please don't remind me about gravity so that gravity won't remember me suddenly.

I don't. I insist there's no such thing as realism.
yup. realism, and pessism are interchangeable and ultimately detrimental to your well-being. the real name for realism/pessimism is depression.

Optimism is best. Optimism is positive. Positive doesn't inhibit brain activity like negative thoughts do. To approach things pessimistically one has to consider negative outcomes. Negative thoughts degenerate the brain functions, and use inferior neuron pathways, inhibit brain improvements, restrict brain memory and learning.
This is the only viable outlook as optimism is a life affirming mode of being.

This is completely false.

Also pessimism isn't the bad thing it is EXCESSIVE pessimism that is the bad thing. And again pessimism and depression are not interchangeable.

I disagree.

Realists are a mix of both optimists and pessimists. They don't deny that there is good in this world but they also acknowledge that there is bad in it too. You have to see both sides of the coin. A realist tries to be aware of what is happening around them and understand what can happen.

study showed the link between being logical/pragmatic because of realism is bogus. realism is a style of being but that doesn't mean you get closer to reality because you're a realist.

Realistically, I'm a pessimist, but I'm a little bit of an optimist. The reason that I'm not much of an optimist is because of naivety. I find it hard to trust people when they do literal stupid stuff right in front of your eyes.

Optimism has nothing to do with clarity.

People often disappoint. That's why I keep my expectations low.

Even though I'm not a fan pessimism, I think a balanced mixture of them is good. Keeps things fresh.
Mauserich 29 DIC 2023 a las 13:58
There is no general attitude towards all kinds of things or events. Different things must be viewed with different attitudes. That is why there is no either or here. Positive developments are viewed with optimism, negative ones with pessimism. Realism should always be a prerequisite for forming a true judgment.

Pessimism. It takes a lot less to pleasantly surprise you, when you don't expect much.

George W Bush was an optimistic man.

He was optimistic about the shoe thrown at him and only wished he could have given a full pair of shoes.
He was seen listening to children stories in preschool while the airplanes were hijacked near Manhattan because he believed that it would fly by with time.
He as well thought that they didn't needed him at home that he spend most of the time in other countries.
