The Tea Party was never grass roots. Nothing is. Someone with money and power is always pushing a narrative that is different from what they say it is. Then the followers see what they want to.

Tea Party were Paleolibertarians funded by Corporations in favor of making laws that favored Big Business, Corporations have since largely shifted to more socially progressive ideology (but NOT economic, this is the big problem), I take issue with the Left-Right Dichotomy as its an easy way for Corporations to divide the lower class by ideology, rather than have a united front against them, Leftists and Rightists on the internet almost never talk about Economic inequality, and dont get me started on Boomer rage.
