I think the most popular subreddit s can have this toxic ness but there are a few subreddit s that are nice and helpful like Deep Rock Galactic. It just depends on the content.

yes it used to be only OP people that used it, a fraction of the size of its current user population
if you used reddit 15 years ago you had an edge on everything because it had all the life hacks before life hacks were a thing.

I like Reddit and never had any issues with it but I only post in selective topics that are catered for those that don't troll as much I e. Educational and more mature subjects.

r/atheism has always been a hate Christianity circlejerk. It isn't even about atheism.
I don't know how it is now but I've heard some drama occurred there these past 2 months.
I'd say the same with r/worldnews, in that they usually just hate America.

So you're saying people should be careful sharing their thoughts and opinions freely on reddit?
I guess you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than reddit.

I mean you are free to share your thoughts online. My issue with Reddit is that in some places the toxicity takes over the purpose of the subreddit. I just want news or world news without back to back posts on how terrible America is. Same with atheism in that I want to read some interesting views.
Also, I'd say twitter is worse than Reddit.

Idk why twitter got such a bad rep. I think it might be the best of all social media. The only reason I don't use it is because it's about politics too much which I don't like, but that's just the users doing that basically.

I find steam game forums are much worse than Reddit, the tyranny and power trippings on game forums is just obscured.

It is different bad. Steam *seems* less political but the moderation is just crazy.

Reddit is as good as you tailor your feed. That said, I always avoided the comments. Lots of miserable people on that site.

What?

I don't know reddit ... I hear steam forums are full of pedos and weirdos

Going to leave steam now?

Why would you quit something you enjoy because you "heard" something about it?
People say all kinds of things that are not true. Even if true if it is small in scale enough not to notice it yourself why would you let it effect your experience?

Seriously Microsoft and Windows are doing horrible things and people still use those things.
Going to stop using windows? Quit Nvidea?

Stop buying games from exploiting producers?

Were you looking for a reason to leave anyway?

Oh reddit is popular to hate on so you are sure to have a big post with lots of replies and feel popular because a post you made stirred people who were bored anyway. Carry on
