DS is stand for Dual Screen, that means a DS must have 2 screens.
Meanwhile, Switch means you can play video games by using built-in screen or a dedicated monitor. If a Nintendo Switch had dual screen, that means you might need 2 monitors to play video games on bigger screens. That's too hard to archive, and maybe too expensive for younger players.
I'm hoping it will be a more powerful Switch that's backwards compatible, and doesn't contain any unnecessary gimmicks.
It would make a lot of sense if they wanted to bring over Nintendo DS or 3DS games to Nintendo Switch online.
Dual Screen allowed for some unique games.
