Longest night of the year
For the northern hemisphere, yes it is.

Bundle up, it's cold. Happy Winter Solstice! All hail the return of the Indomitable Sun!

I'd like to see someone calculate the size of the nuke necessary to knock the earth off course if it were the size of pluto. or, uh, ... well i don't know how big it was.

Nothing big, just an eliptical orbit. For a planet that is -100-100F in temperature variance daily due to size, orbital postion. Pangaea was really, really small, and the planet (somehow) got really, really big after the nuke, tidal forces, earthquakes, etc.

Spitballing the original size might be fun as a project on a long cold night.
