From LA north there was allegedly some huge rainstorms, but down here in Encinitas, not so much.

very rarely. in Greece lightning storms come once every perhaps ten years.
i've only lived through one so far.

Back in the 90's, they were rough.

Went through one lightning all over barely 2000 feet away at closest. Very scary

Georgia lighting storms are really something. Glad I was just passing through.

Yes. One evening this past August my weather station lightning sensor picked up 311 strikes within a 30 mile radius over about a 1 hour period. Crazy.

Usually both are noticed at the same time. The flash vs the sound being the main differences. Sometimes the lightning happens above the clouds where you can't see it, so thats a thunderstorm.
