I couldn't pick his lyrics or voice out of a lineup, though.

He's apparently rich and famous only for being rich and famous. Like royalty, in a way. Not for any particular stand-out technical prowess or style at his chosen musical genre.

Also he's a producer, so his music production is heard in other people's work, most of whom are rich and famous, but similarly non-rememberable, and nobody will be playing their records, or know who they are, in 20 years.

The truth is, it doesn't really matter if people share your views on any given art or artist. It's much more important whether or not they are willing to accept your interests as a given. You like an artist we don't like. Maybe we even feel contempt for them. But we still respect you and your taste in music. Not because we like it also, but because you are a person and therefore have a right to your own opinions.
