Rockstar Hacker sentenced to Life in Asylum.
The apparent lead hacker behind the infamous GTA VI leak effectively got sentenced to life in prison asylum (euphemistically dubbed "indefinite hospital order" to be sent to a "prison hospital"), after being found highly motivated to commit cyber-crime again. I suppose that means at least half of our elites should be sent to an asylum as well?
Another spicy detail: The hacker has been diagnosed with autism. I suppose hacking is his special interest.

His companion, who according to the article is also on the hook for allegedly stalking twowomen, "only" gets 18 months of youth detention. What the actual ♥♥♥♥. He gets locked in an asylum loony murderers and such for life, because he is disabled, but his partner in crime can look forward to be released rather sooner than later. He gets treated like a second-class citizen, solely because he got born with a disability. Just, wow! The UK legal system has reached a new low.

I think it's fair to say he'll get drugged-up, physically abused and the keys thrown away. There are definitely more productive ways to steer his special interest, but I suppose this was the easy route for the authorities.
Yeah, he did bad ♥♥♥♥, and there needs to be a sentence for this, but this is straight up abuse of the disabled and has nothing to do with a just legal system. He didn't even physically hurt anyone.
I totally get why the 'Muricans threw a tea party.

Needless to say, given this cruel punishment, I won't buy any games from Rockstar anymore. Neither will I buy cards from Nvidia. Found their GPUs work crap with Linux anyway, due to their proprietary drivers.

What do you think about the sentence? Please keep it civil.

Oh, so 'unlike cia' you mean you don't know that the UK hands orders directly to the CIA?

So that some dirty colonials can do their dirty work, since they threw all of their native, British criminals in jail for wanting to get paid for it. And also maybe the people who hired them being too stupid to live.
Sarcasm appreciated. Otherwise, provide proof.

Received personal orders to only approve and support 5 types of song compositions in 1976. I thought a Liutenant Colonel was kind of low rank to be issuing orders like this, so I phreaked some phones and discovered they were a Liutenant Colonel in the British Navy.

Take it or leave it; the CIA has never managed to work out of line with British interests, and in the era of contractors it's only gotten worse.

Has he participated in any action that he should not have? Absolutely.
Does this make me bereft? Not at all, for I have not made his acquaintance.

Is this event affecting my life? Not directly - unless this rupture has impeded the development process. Whereupon, I hold the conviction that it is my hope that he finds himself in the care of the government and locked away for a lengthy duration, for his protection and everyone else's.

Does that mean Edward Snowden and Julian Assange also have autisim?

You gotta learn to chill, my dude. :catinablanket:

Yeah just turn your brain off and accept your station in life.

It's the best way to be!
Can you prove that your brain is on at the time of writing it? Even to yourself?

Some agency will get him out later and employ him to do cyber security.

Yeah there's a little green light inside my skull that turns on when I'm conscious and flicking it on and off gives me a headache.

Why, can you prove you exist?

No it's where the FBI recruits most of their hackers. As well as most other organizations.

Maybe speak out next time.

One is 18, the other is... well hold on a sec, nobody's reporting on that. Why would they leave out a detail that important?

Oh I know.

Because he's a minor and they know people that if they don't mention that perfectly reasonable explanation, people are going to flip their lids and link the story all over social media, earning them more clicks and more money, just like exactly what happened here.

WHEN ARE PEOPLE GOING TO LEARN NEWS OUTLETS ARE ACTIVELY SELLING THE PEOPLE OUT FOR PROFIT?

That detail wasn't left out and, iirc, the apparent lead hacker was also a minor when he hacked R*. Besides, it's not uncommon in Europe that perpetrators that just reached adulthood are still sentenced under juvenile law, especially if they are deemed not mature enough. That's often left to the courts though.
For prosecution, the age when the crime happened is important. Locking him up for "medical reasons" can neatly circumvent due process.

Either way, for hacking without physically harming anyone, life in asylum is a crazy sentence, and that decision was made solely due to his disability. He wouldn't even gotten a nearly as cruel sentence if it weren't for his autism.

Mkay, and not admitting intentions and on top allegedly stalking two women warrants a much, much lesser sentence?

Again, I don't have an issue that he got sentenced, it's just the circumstances as well as cruel and unusual nature of it.

And which Bernie? Bernie Sanders?

If you ask me, the stalking boy should also get a life sentence along with the damn man. But I'm sure British court have different view on adolescence crime since that boy is 17 yrs old.

And it's still not a life sentence, if the doc thinks he can be a decent guy and not going around hacking every corps, he may get release. You don't believe it'll happen that's fine.

Also I mean Bernie Madoff, American swindler. His exploits are legendary.

See response above.

I think at best the doc will think he's up for release after he was chemically lobotomised, because the drugs they give these inmates to keep them from going nuts in a situation were everyone but absolutely calculating psychopaths would go nuts do just that.
In practice, it's a death sentence. These facilities don't exist for rehabilitation, they only exist for institutionalisation.

U.K is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Thank you for condensing my points to the shortest form possible. ;P

People should probably be thankful he was removed from society before he did do something horrible.

So we should subject anyone who could potentially harm anyone in any way to a life sentence in a prison asylum, effectively depriving them of all human and civil rights and possibly subjecting them to abuse, (lasting) physical and mental harm and the potential of death in prison?
But it's for "the good of the people", eh?

Sounds like an authoritarian dictatorship to me.

Disabled people are not second-class citizens!

Only in the movies.

Jeff Moss, who founded the Black Hat and DEF CON computer hacker conferences, has worked as a consultant for different administrations.

He was ICANN Chief Security Officer in the Obama administration. Moss is now a member of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s advisory council.

Mr. Moss ran a bulletin board for hackers in the 1980s.

Barrett Brown - hired by the F.B.I.

In fact, the movies tend to copy real life.
