No statues were being built, statues were being unlawfully destroyed.

I wouldn't support building a Democrat statue, and I'm not a fan of Democrats building statues of folks like George Floyd who led a life of crime and whose death was heavily politicized and lied about.But overall doesn't change that he was not a good person.

I'd be fine with removing the George Floyd statues, but would keep the Democrat statues of Confederate soldiers. It's part of history and important to remember that Confederate soldiers are technically US Veterans. A law was passed after the civil war to recognize them as such, as part of the healing process.

And at the end of the day I'm not going to be convinced that these hunk of rock are so triggering to people, that are likely voting for the political party whose these statues are of.

the statues out on public display are essentially statements
and the toppling of confederate statues is a statement about the rejection of people who fought "for the states' rights" to keep slavery alive

Got it, statues celebrating slavery are good, statues about civil rights are bad.

Glad we cleared up your stance here.

The statues thing is even more crazy then most people know. The idea some people have is donate them and preserve them since they're history. Even if they were made by a traitorous propaganda org to try and revise history (and scare civil rights activists), but they're still history on some level.

Problem is donation wise museums don't want them. They take up too much room. They attract the wrong kind of people. And they cost a lot in terms of upkeep. These museums would need welfare to justify keeping these statues. Ironically what the statue lovers would hate most.
