The Post Harris/Walz 2024 thread
"Somehow Palpatine returned"

For 'reasons,' maga republicans chose to write the next chapter of american political history by aping the plot device of the worst of the Star Wars films.

*Donald Trump is a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist.

Yea that "big loud mouth" can get things done at the end of the day. Felon? Yea the government can label anyone that they don't like a felon these days.

Steelton plant showcases how $1 trillion infrastructure law reaps benefits for Pa.

"Gov. Shapiro said he wasn’t as constrained as Buttigieg in responding to that question and launched into a tirade critical of the policy positions of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. He said, “The secretary may not be able to say it, I’ll say it, it’ll be a dangerous path if we go backward to Donald Trump – less freedom, less opportunity, less jobs, less health care, less economic progress in Pennsylvania.”

Of course.

All the anti-Biden stuff posted here is unpersuasive and based on conjecture and bad data. In the past 3200+ comments, I've not seen a persuasive argument against 4 more years of Biden.

However, the labor market surprised observers on Friday with a burst of hiring that improves the economic outlook but may complicate the Fed's decision next week on a possible interest rate cut.

The Fed risks a rebound of inflation if it cuts interest rates too quickly, since stronger consumer demand on top of solid economic activity could lead to an acceleration of price increases.

Average hourly wages surged 4.1% over the year ending in May, the fresh data on Friday showed. That rate of pay increase exceeds the pace of inflation, indicating that the spending power of workers has grown even as prices jump.

Establishment survey - Made 270k jobs
Household survey - Lost 400k job
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/live-blog/2024-06-07/us-employment-report-for-may

Meanwhile unemployment increased and participation rate dropped.

The unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 4%, ending a 27-month stretch of sub-4% joblessness that was the longest such period since the 1960s. The Black unemployment rate climbed to 6.1% from 5.6%, while the jobless rate for White people held steady at 3.5%. The labor force participation rate unexpectedly dropped, to 62.5%, as younger people left the job market.
The household survey showed a 408,000 decline in employment. Many economists view this survey as failing to fully capture the acceleration in immigration in recent years. But this survey did fit in with other data points that have suggested a softening in the labor market, including a decline in job openings in April -- to the lowest level since 2021.

So which is it?

Sounds like they're fudging numbers.

Biden bots talking to themselves is a pretty good argument against Biden.

During Biden's 4 years, the economy has gained 13.9+ million new jobs.

During Trump's 4 years, the economy lost 2.9 million jobs.

And if we want to be fair to Donald Trump since it was COVID and that probably led to some unexpected and unavoidable job loss, Biden is still leading the job record by
13.9-2.9 million = 11 million jobs. Even if Trump blamed all of the job loss during his term on COVID (which would likely not be true), Biden would still lead by 11 million jobs.

More new jobs under Biden presidency than past 3 Republican presidents combined.

The statistics speak for themselves.

Viral video edited to make it appear Biden tried to sit down without a chair

"Edited clips like these have followed Biden through his presidency to support an ongoing narrative that he is mentally incompetent. They often misrepresent an innocent moment banking on the hope that most people won't question what they see as they scroll through their feeds."

Maybe you can't be persuaded. It's a possibility, you know.

Or maybe you can't be persuaded by written text.

Yah, Biden is a good president.

And it seems like the work in the coming months is just going to be heavy fact checking. Boring sure, but a necessary thing.

Nah. It's about the facts for me. Lies, hyperbole and false narrative is not persuasive to me. And like Dom mentioned, the facts are in Biden's favor.
