when will proper low power gpu's arrive?
my 980ti used 250W
my 2080ti also uses 250W

but the 2080ti was 2x as fast.

if I now look for gpu's that perform 2x as good (a 4090) thats 450W)
and the only card thats equal or better than an 2080ti yet uses less than 250W
is an 4070 (and it hardly is an improvement it performs similair but needs 200W

in this day and age where electricity costs an absolute fortune and contributes to 80% of what you will pay for your gou over it's lifetime..

why is there no 4090 that uses 250W instead of 450W.. or an 4070 that uses 125w..

as one would expect 2 generations apart...

why is performance per watt.. actually stagnant for 5 years now..

lol... used to heat my room with the old 3 digit GTX models...

these new chips can hardly reach 70C before they throttle themselves down >.>

The convergence of synthetic biology (including xenobiology and XNA), nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence will likely be the low power computers of the future. Obviously they want to make people themselves part of a mesh network, because all those cells, DNA, glycocalyx, gut microbiome, skin microbiome, etc, and oscillating microtubules throughout every cell and all of your tissues, has a lot of compute and storage potential. Even the quasicrystalline "4th phase" or "EZ" water next to anything hydrophilic stacks in a way that can encode and store information, the finer organization of your blood carries information.
High end GPUs will NEVER be low power. It just isn't what they care about.
If you want low power you should get a midrange. I think a 3050 is probably about on-par with the 980 ti but is 80w vs the older one's 250w.

If words were mouthwash and I were to gargle like that every day I'm sure my breath would always be fresh
Yeah, at this point, why not sell laptop GPUs on PCIe cards at a discount.
I think the real movements on gaming performance in an efficient, power sipping package are in APU/SOC setups.

At one point the Sega Genesis/Megadrive was the king of the hill for gaming performance, and as a device it consumed less than 18 watts. The chips didn't even need active cooling, and didn't even need a heat sink. The first 3d graphics card consumed only 15 watts, and also didn't need any cooling. Power and heat demands have only gone up from there.

Something like the Steam Deck as a whole package can consume something like 30 watts under load, with the APU consuming 15 watts. Cooling requirements are pretty minimal, with a small fan and a tiny heat pipe sufficing. In spite of this lower power consumption and low heat output, you can play modern AAA games at 720p and 30 fps, and last gen AAA games at 60 fps, 1080p if you dock it.

Therefore if you want a power sipping gaming machine, getting a Ryzen APU mini PC with RDNA 2 or 3 onboard graphics is a decent way to go. Takes up less space too.
Some webpage said that RTX 5000 series will have better performance with lower power.

You should try it then. Habitual, next to zero effort. Takes way more effort to do anything other than this, it's closer to native. You could even call it lazy, given a refusal to try to put it into a common subset most people can readily engage with (I don't think about this at all, one way or another. I just make sure the post is self contained and complete). On one hand it's a sort of brutal indifference, very much "your life your problem". On the other it's a gift and a resource if an individual wants to make use of it. All a matter of perspective.

There are two macrostates. "Deconstructed" or "native" (minimal layering and structure). In some sense this is "autistic" or "solipsistic". And then the other state is "built up", which operates in a higher level space that has inverted abstracted and concretized attributes. This goes through the common subset and takes into account the existence of other minds. It's a dialogue rather than a raw info dump, less symbolic indirection and diffusion as well.

It really depends on overall frame of life and what you're doing day to day, where and whether you specialize in that sense. At present it would be a poor use of energy to do otherwise. Being unable to switch between these layers (crystallization, narrowing) is also very bad for the mind. It means your mind and identity is ruling you, not the other way around.

once motherboard architecture shifts to stop localizing so many proceses to the gpu.
Just use low spec GPU, it's low power as well.
Don't expect comfort gaming experience in that case though.
