The formula got old a long time ago.
But when he was actually in his element--that is, doing a comedy routine instead of trying to write a TV show--Jerry could frequently be really funny. Some of his routines were duds, but I generally found the guy at least amusing. Which is more than I can say for everyone who came after him in that space that wears out profanity and sex jokes ad nauseum while the audience for some reason had to be hospitalized from laughing so hard at the same damn joke they've heard a billion times before.
You still laughed.
