Are you less of a man?
If you don’t know everything about cars?

If you don’t know how to repair a entire house?

If you don’t work?

If you take your spouses last name?

If you don’t work out?

If you make less money?

If you don’t work outside?

And or if your spouse is your boss?

Just confused at this point on what everybody is going on about.

on being a man wasn't there a speech written by Shakespeare about this

To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them. To die—to sleep,
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to: 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep, perchance to dream—ay, there's the rub:
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause—there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
Th'oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of dispriz'd love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of th'unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovere'd country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience doth make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.

There's no such thing as a full identity, a true self, etc. Your totality is not a person. It can't be conceived of in that way.

So what is it then? If you were something that could perceive your totality, what would you be? If you had to represent it in one single person, how would you do that? Would you do it like Indra's Net, where you contains reflections of everyone you've ever met and the versions of you that were created in them? Would you do it as a landscape? A society, an ecology, a family system? Machinery and mutability, macrostate, state, and substates? Perhaps a nonlocality, you would look for a body beyond body and a mind beyond mind, a greater self with greater organs.

Would you recognize "I am this here, and that there" and then try to dismantle it so you could be the same thing all the time? Or would you try to decrystallize and become like a vapor, to be and see everything at once and become whatever shape is desired. But you're still stuck with only one manifestation, you can't represent it all at once. Some can't be represented at all.

i am who i am

i don't think it's possible to fully define and express oneself in one's entirety, but the fact remains that i am me
i have sets of traits, i have memories, i make decisions; in a sense i'll be "someone else" in the future, but that "someone else" will be me, and i will be a part of me

do note that this isn't a comprehensive, prescriptive definition
it's more of a description
i'm not saying we are just the sum of our memories, or any other such thing
