Do you guys ever prefer something to be not spicy?

To me it's just common sense to order the spicy version of something if they have it and if I'm already ordering something "spicy" I just ask for it extra spicy. Is there anyone out there that actually prefers ordering their food bland?

I love spicy food, but my stomach doesn't. I have to calculate how much spice my tummy can take or else I'll be in pain the next day.

If I want something spicy then I'm going to want something spicy. If I don't want something spicy, then I'm probably going to pick something else. Unless it something like chips, pretzels or some other treat I probably don't need or alternatively a topping on something I probably shouldn't be having too much of like pizza, that means I'm probably picking something else entirely.

Course if it's my own weapons-grade cooking, then chances are I'm going to want cayenne and cumin in my curry or perhaps on my fries. Especially if I'm also adding cinnamon.

Seriously, cayenne, cumin and cinnamon goes great in curry and on fries. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ try it, and if you don't agree well then look on the bright side - at least you tried something new.

Only exception is wasabi or horsedish based spices.

I like to taste what I eat.

there are cultural barbarians who toss sambal or hot sauce on everything.. same like other barbarians do with catsup..

you cannot taste what you eat that way.. and it shows you are a lowbrow.

some dishes just have such fine flavors, spice would totally ruin that.

on the other hand.. there are foreign dishes for who the spicy is part of that flavor profile.. but who to the local palette are toned down (basicly turned into watered down copies)

I am dutch.. but I can handle a normal amount of spice..
I just hate that when I order some food that should be spicy.. the default option is : bland, cause they see a dutch person.
and when I say : please add a LITTLE BIT more.. they go berserk 10000% totally drowning the thing in heat way past what they would serve to some of their own people walking in..

I don't mind mild spices but I don't like hot spicy food, I always feel if thy food has to be spicy then it must not taste very good mild. :)

You are aware that spicy food is NOT a thing in most countries traditional cuisine's right ?
In entire Europe they generally don't eat spicy food, perhaps in Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania they add some light spice, other than that usually not.

I mostly eat German and Ukrainian food, so yeah, I rarely eat spicy food, its all a matter of what you are used to and what not. Anyone here who claims non-spicy food is blant or bad, is culturally completely ignorant and small-minded and also lacking the understanding of the human body.

For example, for me spicy food is horrible. It covers up all the other nice tastes and gives me diarreah for a day. A good cook does not need spice such as chilli to cover up his food.
