I generally avoid this by just saying "Happy Holidays", especially for people I know or believe they do not celebrate.
Though reality is often disappointing.
How about trying to be polite or considerate?
Why would you go around assuming that everyone celebrates Christmas when you know that there are plenty of people who do not?
2 : ignore them and just walk away
3 : say : so sorry to hear, want to hear about our Lord and Savior?
4 : say : I will pray for you.
5 : say : well I hope you have friends and family to be happy with on xmas day anyway.
7 : ask : oh, what do you do you celebrate than? no christmas dinner?
I generally pick 2.
if I am in a good mood I pick 5
if I am in a REAALY good mood and have the time I pick 3 or 7.. (and prepare for 2 hours of evangelising/debate)
Paganism still exists, those that "conquered" pagans were only christian in name, but far from it. And Christmas is more to do with santa claus, whose appearance we we know today was created by coca cola. Christmas of today is about commercialism.
Want to celebrate christmas the true christian way? Give. not to friends, not to family, but to those who have nothing. Buy a ♥♥♥♥ ton of blankes, lots of canned goods, basic necessities and give to the homeless. "He who has two shirts should give one to he who has none"
christianity is about self sacrifice, but most christians these days have more in common with the pharisees.
