Windows 10 was not supposed to be the "last" Windows we'd ever need, even if that was part of its hype.
It was the FIRST Windows product that had as a strict requirement - "Make our PC OS branch profitable."
Its entire purpose was and is to finally bring Windows OS development and maintenance into "the green" with a positive cashflow.
And, Win 11 continues that tradition and so will every other Micro$oft OS, to the detriment of anything at all that could potentially represent a loss in profits.
I'm all for making money and a business should do that. But, Win 10 and further versions are, themselves, profit centers rather than the apps and other items that Micro$oft builds into them or allows space to be leased for...
You want evil? Go read Micro$oft'S 200+ Page "Privacy "Agreement.""
The only reason Micro$oft didn't price-in those profits to the end-user's final cost for Win 10 was a fear that Linux-based OS's may gain more of a foothold. They will not allow that to happen and that's an "At All Costs" directive, IMO. (Sabotage, stacking the deck with hardware mfrs, legislation, etc...) As soon as Linux-based distros could gain a foothold, ALL of Micro$oft'$ profit centers for the personal end-user market dry up very, very, quickly. (Office/browsers/user-data/sub-services/all of it)
Remember Google Glass? Google Car? Google Wave? Google X (AKA their social media platform).
For what its worth on a funny note: Xbox One X is just a stripped down Windows 8 thats then put into a sandbox, its literally a weak form of Steam Big Picture.
Point is, what Microsoft fails at or cans, other companies have far more of by count
Microsoft would have to complete with countries like Israel and China. Who pay top dollar to own the usa.
i'd put forth call of duty franchise, pretty over done imo
/agreed
Wasn't Google Play/Streaming Service thing pulled, too? I still see occasional ads for it, though, so I'm not sure.
I don't trust Google to develop anything other than profits from their data selling and search engine cash. They just can't get anything past launch.
Remember Google Stadia? AKA Google Gaming Platform?
So basically, windows 8, W8.1, W10, W11, Halo infinite, Gears 5, Xboxone, xbox series x and s, kinect. Starfeild is a disaster also
It became pretty obvious that after the end of the 360, any and all effort was discarded in favor of just buying up studios and wringing them dry. Like who is in charge of the naming/branding department at xbox?? Because they should be fired.
But the worst of the worst would have to be GAMEPASS
Well, probably because they lack the skill to actually make one, idk if you've noticed but almost every game made by their dedicated studios has lacked quality.
I would take a Spyro/Crash style remake collection. ToysforBob would actually be a decent choice
Microsoft also ruined minecraft
