i am pretty sure both got spyware, only thing to rememberr though is clear cache every time or put it on autoclean, isp still tracks data, same with vpn, but at least it wont be as bothersome as doing reinstall due to virus infection, why may you ask? cause most of the time and i mean everytime someone pokes at your browser history and by that i mean it could be you neighbour, some cybercirminal across the road, a dozen other people you may never heard of etc, it never makes any sense but it happens and for the most part we only can reduce chances of it happening, rather than stop it as there are way too many people that waste time doing things that annoy others, many of them even get paid for it, a form of a paid parasite if you ask me, same as "paid" activists and other kind of useless people that pretend to be useful to society by making life miserable for society and getting paid for it.

IMHO, Microsoft Edge is the best option if you don't care about privacy.

Waterfox's javascript parser does not support optional chaining. This means many scripts on the web won't load. This includes the videos on Steam's store page.

I've never used Thorium but as it's Chromium based at least you won't run into issues like that.
