Mother sues McDonalds after her daughter was attacked in one there restaurants
I have just come across this story. Short story is a 13 year old girl was inside McDonald's when she was attacked by another woman. The mother is suing the fast food giant because she stats the managers and staff did nothing to intervene.

This is kind of interesting, because if the staff did get involved im sure McDonald's would of sacked them and another point is, if any of the staff did get involved, the employer could be seriously hurt or killed. And the other way round, If the attacker was hurt or killed then the employee could be facing a murder charge at worst. It's really a no win win situation.

"I am heartbroken that my innocent daughter was beaten," said Kassidy Jones' mother, Angelina Gray. "McDonald's staff and managers did nothing to intervene. They all stood and watched."

"McDonald's has an obligation to provide a clean and safe place for its customers to dine. Kassidy's injuries could have been prevented, and she should have been given some form of help after the attack. This situation should have never happened,"

lol, they should hire security clowns.
They already got Ronald. He is too busy tripping balls and seeing his friends. If you see Ronald tell him to tell Grimace I said hi.
Do you think Ronald will catch the hamburglar. At least the mayor Mcheese knows what he's doing?

My only thought on this, if the mother is successful in this law suit against McDonald's, it will leave other businesses in california very vulnerable to the same kinds of law suits.

What kind of steps could you put in place to keep your customers safe especially in some of these crime ridden cities? if employees are to frighten to get involved then who is going to help.

You could hire guards in each business but this will increase costs to the business and any extra costs will only be passed onto the paying customer making everything cost even more.

Unless McDonald's didn't call police I don't see how they would be sued.

If a business has guards they would lose business no one wants to enter a establishment where there is police or military or other types of enforcement in a establishment.

If McDonald's didn't call police then yes they can be sued. It is their responsibility to call police when something like that happens unless that person is holding a gun or threatens to hurt them if they call police. But when the person leaves police should be notified.

They got successfully sued by fat people, like they made the fat people come in and forced them to eat the food.

Gone are the days of the heroic bystander.

If it was my restaurant or place of business / work place I would step in between the two of them How I would react would depend on the state's laws (because nowadays the worlds mental) ie would I restrain would I just put my arms up or other passive type of defense, would i use a none painful hold and escort them out the building etc etc.

It would be to put myself between the danger and the intended target initially.

in between the lawsuits with cause (the woman who sued when the coffee gave her 3rd degree burns) and the lawsuits that are plain ass stupid (people who pretend that mcdonalds held them at gunpoint and forced them to eat their food), I'll put this lawsuit at damn stupid.

It is not McDonalds responsibility to ensure safety. Its your responsibility. Its why I come strapped to any place I go, keeping my safety in mind.

I don't think fast food places can be sued for that anymore. Also if employees of the restaurant didn't call police I can see them fired or sued them selves by the establishment or by the persons family but it could all be a hoax.

Sometimes two individuals planned to get money as people are gold diggers they will do anything to get money. I remember this kid and a bunch of kids were with him and he tried to walk in front of my car he must of thought I was going to stop. Luckily I didn't hit em but I called police and police went looking for the kid I should of hit him though it would of teach him a lesson do not walk in front of cars trying to make them stop. He could of been dead.

This is something I never really thought about to be honest. Thinking about it, when they are guards or police present, you do some how feel uncomfortable to a degree. I can't explain it why this is myself.

She'll lose...

Don't get me wrong it's unfortunate that that's the world we live in today where one can't even go to McDonald's without worrying.

But most companies have rules that ~expressly forbid~ their employees from interfering... and rightly so... that's not their job, that's what the Police are for.

Because it screams "this is a dangerous area"?...

Because the establishment isn't safe if they are present. People see it as murder will happen or it feels like a prison, etc. It just how humans are wired. Some establishment likes it as it bring them safety concerns but in reality it harms their business.

It's a restaurant for students to work part time and elders to earn a bit for retirement. People should sue her daughter for being such a poorly managed child and causing problem in such place.

If she wins McDonald's needs better lawyers. But jury will be sympathetic to her. So it might be in her favor so McDonald's will most likly provide a settlement if accepted. Or unless lawyers truly feel they will win. True establishments do have these rules some do. But common sense should be call police but business may forbid it but they can't fired you for it or they can be sued by you for being wrongfully terminated and no jury will disagree as you called the police as it is the right thing to do.
