at one extreme: why put out a free game and interact with feedback otherwise?
but at the other extreme: if you are referring to AAA executives then its definitely the money.
because they just want money
retrospectively if i bought all my games at launch full price it would defietenly feel like a ripoff for me.
From what I can tell, they seem to have terrible attitudes and complain about "end-users" incessantly. That's based on past conversations I've had with various devs in here, back when they identified themselves and participated in threads.
There's also an old joke about "You thought you'd be getting paid to play video games, and instead it's just another crappy job". I suspect there's a lot of truth to that.
Are bus drivers happy? How about servers and cooks? Meter-maids? You?
they get money first to make a game from sponsors or investors, and than sales money is a bonus since many games never make a profit.
I think some developers care about their game...
I think some developers care about the money...
But
I think more people think "since i told the developers how to make their game "better" ( like they somehow know more then the developers does ) and they didn't take ~my~ advice so they don't like their game..."
Or
I think more people think "because the developer wants money they don't care about their game they're just in it for the money it should be free ( or at least cheap )"
And
I think more people think "because the developer made it "too hard" / "too grind" they don't like the players and their game they want the players to "suffer" because every game should be on their level of "what ~I~ consider fun"
All in all... I think more players are entitled and narcissistic and demand too much of the developers.. and if it doesn't meet ~their~ requirements "it's the developer's fault" because they can't believe they're in the wrong.
