I just noticed that there are a TON of atheist on Reddit.
Lets compare:..

Atheism: 2.8m members
Christianity: 387k members
Islam: 259k members
Hinduism: 146k members
Buddhism: 673k members

Is this where all the cool angry internet kids hang out today? In the Reddit atheism forums? I'm actually an agnostic atheist myself. Just surprised there are so many on Reddit. That is probably because atheist don't have a central meeting place, like a temple, mosque or church. Also, surprised to see so many Buddhist, but my hunch is many of those Buddhist are also probably atheist as well. Since Buddhism isn't about god worship, so its easy to be both atheist and a practicing Buddhist.

There's proof, it's no assumption. It's atheism that assumes.

Imagine being so arrogant that you can read the mind of said creator? Maybe he, or she wants you to doubt her? Have you thought of this? Maybe god wants you to use your brain, and maybe the bible writers actually lied to us. Maybe god is using the bible as a test. People who believe in the bible are doomed fro hell, because they believe blindly. But if you reject the bible than you are heaven bound. To think that you know this deity is ego.

Personally I think the universe was “created”, correlate that initial event with the big bang I guess, though something would had to have existed before for there to even be a God, though that’s even farther beyond our scope of understanding. The way I see it, God or whatever entity would have created the basics of the universe and it’s laws, and then just let the rest play out naturally. I don’t personally believe in an active/omniscient benevolent God. Maybe he’s not even around anymore. Your guess is really as good as mine though. I’m not atheist but I wouldn’t call myself theist either. Is deist the proper term? And just to clarify I don’t have anything against religious people, at least the ones who don’t abuse it/fear monger. I care much less for the “stereotypical” atheist.

I've thought about it plenty. More than it seems most people can say. Lot of people, especially on Reddit, operate solely on dogma and peer pressure.

If I'm sent to hell for thinking, for coming to conclusions which have been pretty much spelled out for me, then would the world not be meaningless?

Who extends a piece of themselves, in vain, for vanity's sake, without meaning? We were made logical creatures, I won't believe illogical things, that shouldn't be made my fault.

If I believe in something that wants me to doubt, then I've succeeded. I've overcome the odds, and gotten something correct that I wasn't expected to. And if you punish me for my success, then my effort is meaningless. Such would be rewarding incompetency. A god of competency, rewarding incompetence?

Now If I worship in the form of praising competency, claiming that putting effort into in your works is a great and meaningful thing, and the god is great and meaningful, punishing me for that would be an insult upon himself, would it not?

Again, I think about these things, a lot.

Hate you say? Neigh, Pride, mayhaps.

My religion doesn't say stone people based on who they love. Or slay people that switch religions. Or that worshiping anyone but the big guy is illegal. Or that I should spite on people if they believe a different prophet.

...why would atheists feel the need to congregate over atheism?

It seems kinda silly

there seem to be about as many religious folks here. It's a topic of conversation, not a church.
