plausible, but epic is giving away some very good games for free, it's worth checking out
Xbox for multiplayer.
I avoid Epic on principle.
I've never used Battlenet.
I sold my PS4 Pro.
I haven't had an Xbox since the 360. Well, I do have an original XBox still, but it's not online.
Epic's free games are poorly thought out bait to artificially grow their user base, though I'm sure those who claim them and can't otherwise afford many games probably appreciate them. The problem is the kind of "users" free games attract are users who like free games, but what Epic needs are users with open wallets, and that's just not happening as apparent by Epic's ongoing failure to earn a profit and recent layoffs and divestiture.
Please don't let my thoughts on Epic's motive for giving away games stop you from claiming and enjoying them though. In fact, I recommend you enjoy them while you can, because no company in existence will continue to willingly flush money down the toilet like Epic is, particularly when there are major investors involved who expect and demand a return on investment. If Sweeney's gamble on trying to forcibly buy all the PC game market share out from under Valve doesn't work out soon, chances are they'll just cut their losses, and this means bye bye Epic Games Store. Bye bye free games. Followed by a renewed focus building "The Metaverse".
