Delete CyberBullying
Jim gets home from school expecting to be able to relax by logging on to the internet to socialize with friends and play his favorite video games. Instead, he is bombarded with a barrage of hateful comments. These hateful comments are a type of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is the use of electronics to send hurtful or threatening messages to other people. As avid gamers and Youtubers, we have experienced cyberbullying like Jim, and it is very hurtful. Cyberbullying is a very common problem online, and it can lead to mental and social problems. As a result, we want you to help us to stop cyber bullying by sharing this post and telling the people you know about how and why to stop cyberbullying.
Cyber Bullying needs to be stopped because it affects the social and mental health of its victims. Researchers have found that Cyberbullying can cause depression. Depression can have a number of serious effects on a person’s life such as “... low self esteem, anxiety,
high rates of school absence, and physical illness...Experts hesitate to say that bullying is a direct cause of suicide, but it may be a factor in a teen’s depression...The Cyberbullying Research Center found that victims of cyberbullying were more likely to suffer from low self esteem and suicidal thoughts” (“Bullying and Depression”). Cyber-bullying can affect people in horrible ways. You may not think what you say can hurt people, but if for a moment you have second thoughts about telling them what you want to say, you probably shouldn’t say it. “When people are bullied, harassed or assaulted as a result of their identity or connection to a marginalized social group, the negative messages they have absorbed reverberate throughout their lives” (“Safe@School”). For example, if a group of friends made fun of someone online for being part of a certain race or social status, later in life they might still believe they are lesser. Social and trust issues seem to spread from bullying. Bullying can hurt others. Bullying can scar others. Bullying has no purpose. Please, help stop bullying.
There are many reasons people cyberbully, but none of these reasons give people an excuse to hurt others. The National Council on Crime Prevention reports that in a survey of teenagers, 81% said they believe others cyberbully because they think it’s funny. Because they don’t see their victims’ reactions in person, cyberbullies may not realize how much damage they are doing (“Delete Cyberbullying”). They never see the person they bully and might barely know them, so they never think of the consequences. But there are consequences. In addition, cyberbullies “... are often motivated by anger, revenge or frustration. Sometimes they do it for entertainment or because they are bored and have too much time on their hands and too many tech toys available to them” (STOP cyberbullying”). “Experts say that often times cyberbullying is done to fit in. Sometimes kids will cyberbully to fit in with a group of friends or a clique. As a result, these kids succumb to peer pressure in order to be accepted by a group at school, even if it means going against their better judgment” (Gordon). People decide that they need to put others down to make themselves more popular or powerful. People who want you to do this aren’t real friends, and doing this won’t make you powerful. It makes you pathetic because the strong defend the weak; they don’t prey on the weak.Don’t be a cyber-bully because even the bullies suffer from this situation. A bully is like a throwing stone because when the stone hits the water, the water is disturbed and the stone drowns. People who bully will usually regret it later in life. Bullying clearly has negative effects on the bully and the victim, so there is no reason why someone should ever bully.
Do you play videogames? If you do, you need to read this. Cyber-bullying in video games can be worse because there are more possibilities people can bully. There are some people who play online video games for the purpose of harassing other players. These bullies might even be adults who are wanting to target younger kids. (“Cyber-bullying and Video games”). People have figured out how to bully in video games by trolling. This could include intentionally losing games, raging, or even stalking. Before you troll, think of the repercussions of your actions. Trolling isn’t cool, and it isn’t funny. “On top of harassing their targets inside the game, many of these griefers will also figure out how to harass them outside of the game – through various forms of manipulation (such as acquiring cell phone numbers) – and sending them threatening text messages” (“Cyber-bullying and Video games”). The goal of these individuals is to make the gaming experience as awful for their targets as possible. Cold hearted people like this are insecure themselves and need to insult you to feel better. Don’t let these people get to you. Remember that the people who do this are like parasites because they need you much more than you need them. “Some bullies will spend their time trying to figure out their target’s password or hack into that person’s account. Once inside, these bullies can wreak havoc by sending a slew of messages that will appear to be sent from the victim when in fact they are not.” Bullies can even do what they want with your account or e-mail and make it look like you did it! The people who do this are greedy, heartless monsters. Before you trust someone, try to figure out their background or true intentions. Don’t fall prey to one of these wolves in sheep’s clothing. “Hackers can also choose to infect their target’s gaming systems with viruses. Many online gaming platforms and social networks, for example, have chat boxes built into them. As such, nefarious individuals can paste links to viruses, malware and spyware in them (“Cyber-bullying and Video games”). There are also people who go to lengths spreading viruses. Even though this doesn’t seem like bullying, it is. It is even nastier than other types of bullying because of the amount of real world damage it can do.
There are many people getting cyberbullied right now as you are reading this post, and it has to be stopped. Cyber bullying isn’t a problem that can be solved by money. It takes everyone who uses technology to join together to say “no” to cyber-bullying. We have posted this article for you to read to raise awareness. You read our post. Now spread this forum post to your friends so they will understand the risks and consequences of cyberbullying. We need people like you to spread our message to eliminate cyberbullying. Together, we can make the online world a more peaceful place.

Firstly, you didn't correct me on anything, you just told me I couldn't have an opinion and secondly what was ironic about it? That you were "bullying" me? Because it's only bullying if I get upset about it and it's constant, surely.

I actually think cyber bullying is the best form of bullying ever created.

Because it's the kind of bullying that you can basically flee for as long as you're not ready to face it. Unlike real bullying which you have to deal with everyday and for years (depending on the situation)

tbh i know there are extreme examples but really? I just wish people would just give themselves a slap and snap out of this bs!
do you not realise YOU give the troll power?
YOU sit there and read it
YOU get all offended and reply
YOU value a social media account with people who ten years ago would not have even been an aquaintence (as to even merit that basic level you had to meet irl) yet now are "friends" you will never meet who get more of your time than your irl family............................. thousands of people getting this so wrong ......if you don't like the program change channel .......the internet has only ever had the power we give it!
you doing this to yourself is a YOU problem ....... that needs your control not regulation!

I agree you are worrying over people you'll never meet ..........you honestly think they care?
not that it is "good" just that you can walk away at any time!

Bullying only goes away when the victims deal with it themselves.

So if you really want to end bullying, then take personal responsibility and don't be a delicate little snowflake. Don't treat others like snowflakes either, because you're just hurting them in the long run and creating an even more fertile ground for bullies to exploit.

Say no to snowflake justice warriors. :steamflake: They don't actually do anything except demonize people and groups while acting like bullies and harassers themselves.

Just a thought that popped into my mind...I don't understand why, on the other hand, the "Tough on crime" stance is so popular. Because following the same logic, you'd arrive to a conclusion that being "tough on crime" only makes the society worse and even weaker for criminals to exploit.
Holy wall of text Batman.
