Any good anime ?
Any good anime for an adult who has never really watched anime ?
Ideally I would be able to find it on Netflix. It should be very serious, super dark and with a good story.

Plenty... anything from Studio Ghibli... you can watch "Spirited Away" on Netflix

It's not "super dark" ( whatever that means )...

"Super dark" might mean "Tokyo Ghoul", "Another", or maybe even "Chainsaw Man"

Adult who has never really watched anime find it hard to get into Anime... it's a niche thing that either you get or you don't...

Maybe not as dark and serious as you want but here's some anime with heavier stuff.

Titan
Parasyte
Cyberpunk edgerunners
Psychopass
Fate zero
Devilman crybaby
Ajin
Jigoku shoujo (Hell girl)
Monster

Try Death Note or Elfin Lied, perhaps Highschool of the Dead. Most of the darker anime with demons and monsters ripping up people seems to be older, but I can't remember most of their names.

Hard to say. Check this post:

The Netflix aspect is another story though. A lot of these I'd say ought to be watched with subtitles. Ergo Proxy and Cowboy Bebop being exceptions where the english dub was a net improvement.

Ghost in the Shell.

But read https://simson.net/ref/1963/God_And_Golem_Inc.pdf and https://www.amazon.com/G%C3%B6del-Escher-Bach-Eternal-Golden/dp/0465026567 first.

Aside from the two movies, which were based on arcs from the original manga, there's the separate Stand Alone Complex continuity with two seasons, the Solid State Society OVA and the 2045 series, and then the Arise continuity is another reboot.

We don't talk about the live action kus.

Yeah, but why is gore and "dark" always the first thing considered "adult"? I'd say children aren't capable of really understanding Evangelion or Ergo Proxy beyond the surface plot, and they aren't body-horror dark.

Forget netflix. Sites like Animefreak.tv are your best pal, out there.

You cannot go wrong with Berserk (the old series, take extra care, not the modern iteration).

Or, Claymore.

Or, Fate Zero (i recommend watching the entire series, though).

Phantom of Inferno will make you jump with joy.

If you want more psychologically dark, then something like The Rising of the Shield Hero, will set you up nicely.

Texhnolyze isn't nihilistic. Everything they believed, rallied around and stood on for who they are crumbled, and they were reduced to the Bose-Einstein condensate like particles in a field, but there is no greater assertion about meaninglessness. Brutalism also doesn't imply nihilism. I think n ihilism as an organizing principle, message, or theme, is something people tack on. They try to map it on to make sense of it, but it's not what it all stems from, nor whta holds it all together.

All of Ghibli goes without saying. Though even if it's the only one to get PG-13, it's still shonen.

For non-dark and adult stuff, I always say Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are a good place to start for an anime noob. Good cross section of standard tropes and conventions.

Also, The Slayers is probably my oldest and dearest favorite. Or tied for that position with Ranma 1/2.
