I certainly don't hate him. Not to say I have a reason to "love" he guy either. I think he's just an "alright dude" once you get past the fact he's usually just "playing a character".

I think that he can come off as disingenuous sometimes. His takes often seem to be driven by how much attention it will garner with his viewers. I don't hate him personally, but I understand the sentiment. I think people dislike him for some of the same reasons that people dislike click-bait.

I liken the dude to Dr Disrespect. He's a regular Joe who plays a character because it's successful and makes him loads of money. The rare times you get to see the real Zack, he seems like a pretty smart and chill guy, but the character Asmongold? Nah, he's a douche.

Asmon has to go where the hype is due to being a high profile streamer, while also having a very strong opinion regarding what he likes and dislikes, what he wants from the game, etc.

This results in him reacting to games as if they're bad and voicing his dislike to different features, that might be native to the genre of the game, if those features/aspects don't fit his likes. Normally a person wouldn't visit a genre he doesn't enjoy, but Asmon follows the hype to an extent, and people potentially dislike his opinions due to them being misplaced.

The focal point here though is that a lot of his viewers follow his opinion somewhat religiously for no reason.
