It's very easy to see whose been brainwashed by the corporate alphabet soup media. They think one board (/pol/ or /b/ which are honeypots) is pretty much the entire website. Oh well, ignorance is bliss.

Agreed.

If any of you think OT ♥♥♥♥ don't stink and it's God's gift to forums, you are badly mistaken. It's just as toxic and vile as any of the worst ones out there.

I can't go back to 4chan even if i wanted to, lol. I got myself purposefully permanently banned cause i am a compulsive person and kept going back against my own best interests.

4chan “you will join us or die”

It's odd at first glance, as an adult is running what was originally a child's forum, while still acting like an immature child. A ripped off copy of a Japanese's anime forum. 4chan was designed to be toxic, edgy and controversy version of the same thing, then branched out.

It had the idea of no rules and 'free speech', which lead to user uploads/posts becoming more and more toxic over time, till the point of torture, beheadings, murder photos, rape, porn, CP, teenagers uploading images of their illegal firearms, drugs and school shooting announcements, etc. Suspended multiple times and multiple arrests made.

It also started getting hacked via a Javascript worm and DDOS attacked. Anonymous hackers disbanded from it, claiming it was a toxic bunch of script kiddies and made their group for the more mature 'adults'.

It also created other groups, such as Brony fandom. My Little Pony fans wasn't created by watching the tv show, but rather via 4Chan posting art images of it and then them separating away into their own group.

The original 4Chan was terminated and sold onto Hiroyuki Nishimura, who has been the new owner of 4chan since 2015, who has his other domain seized back in 2014. Both scraped together and protected as a law enforcement honeypot now. Hense why they aren't suspended/terminated every single time now and can withstand a DDOS attack, etc.

Quality varies by board and thread.
First got into it in 2008 when someone linked a thread to it. Things were far more civil and productive back then.

At some point, people started posting screenshots of 4chan posts, and it gave people the wrong idea about the site. So now you have outsiders coming in and posting garbage because they believe that is what the site is all about.

I'm a regular on /tg/, /vg/, /vm/, /vt/, /g/, and /a/.
It's also hilarious to me how many popular artists and content creators started out by making OC(original content) on 4chan, but have garnered fans that hate the site. If only they knew.

Its best to lurk, and some boards are significantly better than others. Avoid red boards if you can

In a way, sure - but 4chan isn't like Reddit where any individual can create a subreddit and thus you cannot generalize that one subreddit represents the whole Reddit.

However, with 4chan there are a limited amount of boards (that users cannot create) and they are also very specific. Because of the limited amount, one board is a big portion of the site itself.
