The first few days are kinda scary and iffy, and you might find yourself in basically an elevator with a head that's wriggling in ankle-deep water. Dreading that some half-man will crawl up from elsewhere while you're asleep. But they're not getting the cover off, and most of them will likely be drawn off within a couple of weeks due to something blowing up somewhere.
If you can imagine yourself in the sewerevator situation without panicking or freezing, then it's a decent day 0 strat.
Might get there, everything's good, someone's in there and they locked it from the inside for air pressure reasons.
It's kind of the fact that it is such a good choice that it's problematic.
Go to the local aquarium and get one of those shark diver suits that is chainmail. The zombies won't be able to bite through it.
Or perhaps a Renaissance faire or HEMA place and get the chainmail that way lol but the diving suit would be comfier.
I'm a special type of survivor with steel skin imperious to all biting and I can also heat up to near-molten levels causing the arm zombie to burn his hand when he tries to grab me.
