It is already (and have been for ages) the standard in animated movies etc.
Even low tier current generation cards can run RT without too much issue. It will only become more and more, PT might need a tad more time (2-3 generation) before it is fully there as well.
Rasterization is actually much more time demanding, but it does look great (not as great as RT/PT) but due to the fact its been used for ages in gaming, it has been perfected rather well.. but still lacks a lot.. even more so when you see PT vs Rasterization.
That is the choice everybody should make. I spend much more money on my music gear as well (ie Piano) and on painting, than I do on PC hardware, but I still have a above avarage setup.
I can run a game like CP2077 with PT on (all maxed out) on 1440p and still get 60 fps for the most parts and more if I tick down the settings a bit, if I go RT I can max everything and go DLSS on quality and go well beyond 100 FPS..
In a few years, Ray Tracing will be the standard for most AA and AAA titles.
I remember when people said RT was a gimmick.....
Says the Person who can't afford Technology...
Either buy it, or don't...
I got an idea, though???
Why not just implement better Technology into our Society,
& actually Optimize the Products, & not incorporate so many
Bugs in the System...
Oh, but to do that? We'd have to go back to the way things were,
& we wouldn't wanna do that now, right? I mean it's only better, lOl...
& we have a problem with better, why???
If a 3080 GPU or a 5800 whatever GPU was actually made to function
the right way, we would already be utilizing 120 FPS at 8K Resolution Today,
if not higher then that... & you know what? We would of achieved that all
the way back in like 2021, but no... We had to make stupid decisions,
& make Technology worst... So now, instead of having Technology Advance
in 2023 & 2024 & 2025, & make use of Technology for things we never
thought possible?
We are still dwelling on how can we improve 8K Resolution on
Video Games that aren't even being created to use 8K Resolution at all...
Ya, a bunch of Side Scrollers & Top Down RPG's, you don't need
heavy GPU's to run them at all... & if you do? Your just wasting
money on Future Tech for something that is sooo old...
Can be a number of reasons, like using an rtx 3050 up on max settings or having a slower card on 4k resolution or having some bad drivers.
GPU is supposed to be that solution looking for a problem. Most games today do not have that "Beyond Ultra - hyper realism" setting, therefore no problem. RE remake for example feels the same with or without RTX. So why is the option of RTX on/off there. Why waste more electricity and power.
It is hardware made in the wrong time. It's still young. There are only short tech demos to illustrate it's full potential.
But I blame scalpers. If they don't overprice from $500 to $2000, the market would have evolved sooner as developers invest more years to study on hyper realism. One thing leads to another, we are already not getting what we deserved and many don't see it that way.
Properly implemented, it would save both time AND money.
