Curious to know what peoples interest in metal are these days.
As a steam community member I wanna know what the others think of metal these days and what they like to listen too. And music rig or sound rig. SLAYER!!!

Dude that sounds pretty hardcore.

I'm looking forward to Judas Priest's new album, and even more to the Bruce Dickinson one:

New Maiden sounds just boring to me.
I am just assuming at this point. But is the mandrake project supposed to be something that has the lead singer of Judas Priest in it Rob Halford? like from the Halford Live CD. The one you love to hate. I think they sound amazing as a duo.

I wish, but I guess not. Details of the album weren't revealed yet, so who knows... maybe Halford participates in one song at least.

Most of the metal songs, especially death metal, are just people torturing their instruments and their vocal cords to me.

I can see why some people say that, but that definitely doesn't apply to Heavy Metal:

Nah dude. Country music is way harder than Metal anyway. You can hear the pain agony and sarrow in the lyrics.

That would be good enough. But still would be cool.

IMO?

Metal is pretty much dead... it's a shell of what it was...

Except for in Japan where it's always a bit lagging behind... and that can be a good thing

You mean the high energy?

No I mean the creativity... most "metal" now is just scream metal... it's all the same.

Japan is a bit behind so they'er still experimenting and have some diversity...

My cousin happens to be a singer for a metal band called Solar Flare.

Also a fan of Ghost, Amon Amarth, Babymetal, Blind Guardian, and some 1970s/80s metal (like Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Thor).

Many great metal bands but of course they aren't mainstream. At least it lives unlike normal rock which has evolved into pop.

Lithium and Bismuth are my favorites.

I don't think people are looking at it as all or nothing. Like they are pouring every bit of there life into the lyrics. I assume that some are though. I would not paint it with that broad of a brush.
