Goth as a lifestyle is okay, but goth as pure fashion is just cosplay. The difference being if you're out of high school and still dressing goth, you're cosplaying. True goths suicide before graduation, at least to make graduation a dark memory to everyone else.

Goth was back during the "Don't label me bro" days.

Goth was like protesting the system, with clothing. Silent screaming. Being the victim that doesn't break. Few knew of things like being trans, politics few cared about, Christianity was more oppressive so being openly satanic was dangerous. And Wicca/being a witch hadn't caught on much.

Do you need to silently protest feeling like your trapped in a cage. When you have the internet?

Why dress in black and red and believe yourself the victim. When you can pray to satan for the changes you wish. Or be a wicca/witch for the same reason?

Goth is like the introduction to a book, and wicca/satanism/pagan the chapters. That is to say, theres not a whole lot to goth.

this kinda explains the type[en.wikipedia.org] but not really the feeling.

basically a male or female that uses dark themed clothing and makeup, freethinking and freedom of expression are generally in their philosophy. its a counter culture to authoritarian themes but also kind of the best and most inclusive group of people. very live and let live, but also pretty moral.

some can look pretty vicious or ferocious but its an aesthetic. they'll have a heart of 24kt gold tbh.

a fairly refined and boisterous group of people, and i haven't met a single person in the goth scene that i haven't been able to get along with.

meanwhile in the engineering industry, its like every 100th dude, wants to start a fistfight in the office lol. the white collar life doesn't agree with them i think. 😂, maybe they should try changing to goth.
