Keep laughing, zoomers. Some day YOU'LL be the boomers.

Then you'll know what it was like back in the day. Before they had Tweeter and Youbook.

You do know generations are when you are born and they don't change.

In the future, Zoomers will be complaining about the Alphas on their lawn.

Nuh uh

You either die a zoomer or you live long enough to see yourself become a boomer.

Just a few decades and these current-day alphas will remember when drive thrus were king and you could buy a house with a high school diploma.

I could be wrong, but I do disagree with that statement.

Doesn't boomer mean being born between specific years?
As far as I know, it does have more than one meaning despite having quite clear definition that shall be easy to understand.
You know how it is with people twisting words, claiming that they're evolving just to have them fit their narratives instead of admitting that they're wrong or can't think of the proper word to use.
Not that this is how it always is, but I do keep noticing such a trend more and more often as I'm growing old.. It's as if all the social networks were causing was laziness and people using the same words over and over instead of learning some new ones and using something original..

I have been told that being a boomer can mean, both, being born at a specific year frame, as well as being fond of the old things and rejecting the newest changes and trends.. Having a negative opinion about the most common trend to make things inclusive and such stuff.

Yea, in 30 years teens and young adults will be like "you tube is so old." Who is this Mr. Beast? He is sooooo old. Insta what? Can't believe these old folks used those old phones to watch videos. And, hahaha... Those video game graphics in 2023 so old.
I kinda can't wait for future generations to turn their noses up at today's Internet culture.

I think all the time about kids living in 2200 or so reading history textbooks and going

"WHY DID THEY NEED SO MANY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS? DID THEY SIGN UP FOR ALL OF THEM?"

"WHY WERE THEY SO ANGRY ALL THE TIME?"

"WHY DIDN'T THIS DISNEY GUY GO TO JAIL FOR ALL THE TERRIBLE THINGS HE DID TO THIS GEORGE LUCAS? WASN'T THE USA A DEMOCRACY?"
Ironically, I'm a boomer in his early 30s, but I'm still somewhat young enough to have had a facebook/twitter and so on. I chose not to, so I've never had any facebook/twitter/instagram/etc/etc accounts.

Steam and web forums are the closest I get to social media.

You have no idea the weird looks you get when someone says "I can't find you on facebook, where's your profile?" and you answer "I don't have one".

The most amusing time was when someone quite a lot older than me tried telling me to be careful on facebook, that "fake profiles" were using fake women pictures to lure men into giving up their passwords, as it happened to her husband.

When I said "I don't have facebook", the look of sheer confusion and almost disbelief was hilarious.

People are mostly confused because I work with tech a lot, and I am known for being a little bit of a computer geek. So for a computer person to not have social media, nor be interested in it confuses people.

It's more the case I know how it works and what it uses the information for. So of course, I won't join those platforms.

Yeah, I totally get this. I technically have a FB but I haven't updated it in almost a decade. There are multiple ways you can use a computer, and the "techy" ways generally have nothing to do with social media. I think the reason people get confused is they just don't know enough about them to realize they do more than just open a browser.

It also throws people off when they search you out with their question or problem because they heard you were "good with computers" and you look over their shoulder and say "oh, I don't know much about macs..."

It's strikingly similar to the look you get from a guitarist who asks you if you can play an instrument, when you answer with anything but guitar.

Anyway, I've since considered buying one of those NUC-sized macs just to poke around in so I can be more helpful to these types. Dig in heels though I may, people are going to keep buying the dumb things and expecting me to know how to use them.

Very much so, I personally have never actually used a real mac computer beyond helping with basic tasks. I have however span it up in qemu a couple of times just to see if it would work.

Now, give me servers, programming, 3d modelling, various linux things - I'm your guy. Mac? Nah. lol. To be honest, I could just never justify the cost of buying a mac over a regular computer (though, I do have a few "non-regular" computers in the form of Pis and such these days, they can do so many useful things!).

The thing is, computing is a large field with lots of different areas, realistically no tech knows "everything about everything" with computers. None of them. Because it's just impossible to know everything. It is funny because you can sometimes throw out techies too, I threw one out the other day by saying "I removed the CAN bus module from the kernel of that system". They had no idea what a CAN bus even was (not a surprise, their computer isn't in a car).

The end user aspect of computers, like social media platforms are just that, end user stuff.

Anyway, I should stop talking about computers, or I could very quickly derail this topic, and start talking too much! :steamlaughcry:

A 50 year old is a genX now I think its because many young people think 50 is old.

Old- boomers. Heck, many young people think 40 is ancient.
