Does time go by faster the older you get?
Definitely seems like it, just remember what happened this week or how fast it went by, its already almost Christmas, dammit.
Maybe it just feels that way because we are busier now than when we were kids.

idk, thoughts? :lunar2019piginablanket:

A day for me passes entirely in what feels like an hour.

But I can remember as a kid when an hour felt so long and painful.

When your a child, a year is a significant portion of your life, as you age it is a smaller portion of it. So a day meant more as a kid.

Part of the reason time goes so fast for me now is because I'm rarely on "High alert". I'm a big strong adult that can go into trance easily.

I'm not a tiny, helpless baby animal thats constantly on alert, counting each breath.

I'm not a snappy brand new computer with little running in the background to draw my attention. The boredom is not killing me anymore, of having tons of resources and brand new sensors

Everything isn't a new experience anymore, that needs to be experienced in every sense for the first time.

No, your ability to tell time apart and to catalogue it according to an objective timescale becomes less.

If time is going by faster it's something else.
Dracoco OwO 23/set./2023 às 17:27
It certainly kinda feel that way.

Objectively no.

Subjectively yes.

No. It's almost end of time. I know some don't believe but one of the prophecy is time will run faster. Another one that i like to mention that we can look on is about killing. People who get killed don't know why they are being kill and same goes to the killer.

Also as reminder for everyone especially Muslim and myself.

And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

Pretty much this. Conveys the point better than I could. As you get older, some things just get so easy. Don't even need to use my brain, muscle memory suffices.

It's always the end of times when peoples of influence have to come in terms with their own end.

I think it's the age. The more you've lived, the less insignificant your days feel. One day is nothing when compared to your age. It's just like technology - the more advanced it is, the less impressive your 5-year-old flagship phone becomes.
Essentially this. When you are a kid something as simple as a walk around the neighbourhood is new and memorable. As an adult much more of day-to-day life is just same-old, same-old, and you remember less of it as a result (or more accurately, you are simply on auto-pilot most of the time), which makes it seem like time is going faster.

Yeah the 20 somethings at work... newest iPhone.
Me, Android phone from like 3 years ago that was also a bang for the buck deal.
#
But this is not a good rule to follow, I am 33 and a coworker is 36 and she still needs to have the latest iPhone.. soo...

You may notice a trend with computer enthusiasts too, those who buy the latest and greatest all the time likely don't give too much of a crap about their phones. Those with middle to low likely own a top of the range phone..

So Radeon 7900 upwards.
5800x3D and upwards.

But again not a rule, there are people with money who will just buy the best regardless.

There are more ways to foreshorten time than there are to put it back together again.

Sometimes that second bit gets a little awkward.

I think it's just time, relative to your total life experience changes your perception of time that's already passed.

Like, if you're 10 years old, a year is 10% of your entire life. That's massive. If you're 50 then a year is only 2% of your entire life.

Also, the more "novel" your life experience, the longer it will seem to be. The brain prioritizes the details of novel experience for memory. Routine events will get glossed over. So in your memories, a week spent adventuring in a totally new (to you) country will feel like it took longer than six months doing the same day-in-day-out at your 9-5. The more details cemented into your mind of a time you had, the longer that time will seem to have taken. As we age, we tend to sort of fall into these comfortable routines and life just drifts by. Then in an instant, pow, you wake up and you're 65 and you wonder what happened.
