Why can't we follow Asian culture of shaming fat people?
So, that way everyone is pressured to stay fit and we wouldn't have any epidemic of health issues?

maybe shaming fat acceptance activists because they are liars, but not the random fat people who have nothing to do with this stupid movement.

shaming never works. people must themselves come to a conclusion: either they want to lose weight (for their own reasons) or they wish to stay as they are (for their own reasons).
it's up to them, both are valid.

My 2 cents.

It's mostly psychological.

Food is associated with happiness and fun.

In terms of shaming, well I have a neighbor who told me his family used to fat shame him constantly and it did no good.

Basically it "fed" the cycle of depression then eating to feel better.
After a while it turns into eating when bored and as a reward.
You don't even notice it as it just becomes your lifestyle. When you try to stop you feel like you are missing something but can't quite put your finger on it.

In the end you have to deal with the psychological factors first or have a shock experience.

the simplest way is to trick yourself.

there is no food, there are no groceries.

yeah, because it isn't like they have their own issues concerning weight and beauty standards that push women to get plastic surgeries they don't need
It's fast food, junk food and processed food that's bad

we have to counter fat acceptance movement because its dangerous, i met some people who are 120+kg and think its healthy and normal and they were showing me clips of fat activist who just spreading lies and misinformation, in the video the woman was not doing any physical effort, but she was almost out of breath, and still people listen and believe her.

Fat acceptance or the "body positive" stuff is just enabling by any other name.

hmm. i'll only stick to shaming. these people you met, you could always tell them yourself that the person on the video they showed you doesn't say accurate things at all, and prove so as well. otherwise if these people you met just took for granted a video they saw online without critical thinking, then it's on them. it's on them anyway, either they want to lose weight or not.

and it's about weight loss in general, not activism which i see you stick to it for personal reasons even though it's not the main promoter of the problem, if it even is a problem for any person that doesn't wish to lose weight and maybe has the IQ to realize that the activism they see before their eyes doesn't affect or influence them.

being messianic for the masses =/= counter-activism. what if the people have health problems and can't lose weight anyway. is that the activisms fault as well? i wouldn't think so.

edit: i only stick to shaming not being a way that would address a problem that it's not personal health/metabolism related but out of personal way of life and consumer choices.

so far in the thread many more accurate points have been made, e.g. cut all unnecessary sugar out of everything edible. no shaming.

Some friends of mine got married in Bermuda on the beach and they were all butt hurt over there being fat people on the beach... like it ruined their vacation to see fat people in a place where beautiful people are supposed to go or something.. like the pamphlets lied since fat people weren't represented properly.. IDK

A weird hate culture I decided I wanted no part of and have lost contact with those friends over time.

Are you really wanting to shame people out of concern for them or just that it bothers you to see them? Why should you worry about what other people do? Were you taught to prejudge people on appearance?

These are all questions you should ask yourself.
