Why can't we follow Asian culture of shaming fat people?
So, that way everyone is pressured to stay fit and we wouldn't have any epidemic of health issues?

Try living with minimum wage around 2$ per hour like underdeveloped asian then.
Not even magarine can make you fat simply because you won't get enough.

Shame culture seems really nice until you've experienced it lol, plastic surgery in South Korea etc just because your face is a bit too round etc...

I don't see any good coming from fat shaming and for many people, being overweight is not entirely due to diets and exercise but both medical and biological conditions. My cousin got fat shamed (he wasn't even fat but his tummy just popped out a bit) and the relatives that fat shamed him just annoyed him and conflict within his family happened.

Fat shaming is old fashion and now seen as unsolicited advice.

I never even knew that was a thing, must be for a very small minority of nations in the East because I can tell ya here and now that they don't follow their own advice sometimes, not that they need to when half the people over there are skinny as a result of things outside of their control (such as their lovely leaders or just other issues)

Thing is, Asian nations are stricter on their own people because thats just how their nation formed, strict and hard, you cant force another nations steps onto one that formed completely differently. In this case if we take China, you'll never be able to count the number of times that nation collapsed prior to the 19's and even if you tried, you'd still miss a few hundred smaller collapses. Japan was known for its massive exiling of its emperor that saw their former capital of Kyoto become the modern one of Tokyo (which ironically is Kyoto with all letters changed in their position)

Heck if we look at the smaller nations, they've been in larger conflicts to so they've been active and never rested like other nations, its just how they formed. Asian nations are one of those nations who know strife like the back of their hand and its forged them into the people they are today (in a rather good way if I might say)

Dad: You doctor yet?
Me: No, dad. I’m 12.
Dad: Talk to me when doctor.
Kinda agree. Being obese should not be so accepted as normal. Just because we want to be accepting and not hurt feelings.

Can shame Asian cultures for a hell of a lot more than they can shame a fat person. ...False religion...

Sure, good argument, is not your religion/beliefs, must therefore be "false".

Shaming is not a substitute for treatment. Never works. All it serves is to bring their self-esteem down.

Education and social norms are. This includes raising kids from an early age to eat well.

In the Western World, people eat A LOT, and often unhealthy foods at that. Especially in the US, where portion servings tend to be enormous.

Less so in Asia, and food tends to be less processed stuff that is healthier.

Could just stop putting unnecessary amounts of sugar in things that have no reason to be sweet.
