Getting the combat and feel is also very important. Doesn't need to be prefect, just needs to feel enjoyable.
But with a more active mechanics, like first or third person action games. I guess it would look similar to Fallout NV, Outer worlds, or Deus Ex Human revolution but with more choices and more way to complete any quest.
Just my personal preferences though.
Imagine a VR capsule that had Cyberpunk 2077. That game alone would be worth the price of admission.
Because Visual Novels are real video games.
2 Single Player Offline, Open World RPG (but more like morrowind, than the skyrim crap)
3 Real Time Strategy (warcraft III/ C&C red alert 2 style)
**I like me a streampunk element, I really loved Rise of Legends for that.
Ironclad tactics was not my true type of game.,. but it also felt steampunk.
**I like mixing genres.. Spellforce (and mostly spellforce 1 and 2).. combine rpg with an rts.. which I do like.
-what I don't like in rpg is :
**missing out : events that only occur at certain times of the year or once ever.. and give items that never can be obtained again... I hate that.
**handhelding (fast travel and unkillable npc are very much hated by me)
**premade characters..
**being forced to pick between skills
**limited inventory space
-what I do like in RPG is :
**easy modding, like morrowind had
**being allowed to become a true master of all trades, so all professions, all skills all classes on 1 character.. if you invest enough time into it.
**collecting, from the spells in dungeon siege (where quite a lot of different ones apear), to the runes in spellforce... something nice to collect.
what I hate in TBS
-penalties for going wide (essentially a softcap on number of cities/bases I hate that)
-limits on units per tile (stacks of doom please!)
-missing out : wonders or buildings that can only be build in a certain phase of the game, regulair buildings that can only be build in one in 4 cities... I hate that stuff.
-being limited in where I can place bases... I like myself nice grids
what I like in TBS
-easy manual build orders (when managing 1000+ cities, it is key to have the ability to be allowed to save a preset build order... and to upload it to any number of selected cities at once.. instead of having to repeat that for each city repetitive
-stuff that cuts micro.. like how call to power, removed workers, and replaced it for public works
-multy layered maps (like call to power 1 has)
-modulair units /buildings, instead of preset ones (like alpha centauri has)
-humor.. like the advisors from civilization 2, and the great wonder movies from call to power
-terraforming, like call to power and alpha centauri.. turn the map into whatever you want in the late game so that start position becomes irrelevant.
what I hate in RTS
*way to many clicks per second... (to much micro)
*to tight economy
*to fast paced.
*hard counters
what I like in RTS
***very strong defense, so that attacks feel more like chipping away with an axe at at a castle wall.. with long gameplay in mind
**a strong economy, so that you don't have to pick what you want to build, but essentially can keep spamming everything.
**no true counters, every unit more or less equally usefull... so that numbers win the day in the end.
**humor, like the units in warcraft 3, where if you clicked multiple times on them they said all kind of funny stufff
**my own language dutch, I played rising lands, in my native dutch, to actually hear the units say when given commands "where is the bbq" and "need a light?" in my own native dutch was great.
**great mission movies, red alert, tiberian sun, red alert 2, legendairy for the great missions movies and actors in them.
Don't Care, Just Make It Good & Base It On 2016 Gaming,
none of this Wokeness From 2017 to 2023 Political Corectness stuff...
If you could ask for one perfect game to be
made just for you, what style would it be?
Grand Theft Auto Style
But please don't Copy GTA, do something different,
like how Watch Dogs tried to incorporate Electronics into it,
be unique with the Game...
See what sells the most, compare sales to reviews.
Look at twitch, see what type of games are constantly being watched.
Etc etc
If I told you I thoroughly enjoyed the System Shock remake that recently dropped, it doesn't mean much. Since it got decent reviews but meh sales.
But, usually the makings of a great game - come from pure passion instead of trying to make something that caters to people that already have outlets to fill the voids.
