John Wick - Overrated?

I just watched John Wick 4 with my family... and.. I've gotta say, that was definitely an underwhelming movie. It was 2 hours and 40 minutes long, and only had maybe 5 total action sequences?

But it has a 94% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

Not to mention Keanu's acting in all the John Wick movies. Don't get me wrong, I love Keanu Reeves, but his dialogue in all the movies has been cheesy, especially John Wick 4... I don't know if it's intentional or not, it makes the movies kinda humerous with the way he delivers his lines, but he just doesn't display good acting skills.

I liked John Wick 1 because it was full of action and not that much dialogue, but the 4th chapter is pretty much the opposite... way too much filler dialogue and not enough action, in my opinion.

But do you think John Wick is overrated? At the very least, after seeing John Wick 4 I think it is WAY too highly rated. If you've seen the 4th one, what are your thoughts on it? I can't be the only one who thought it was really lackluster.

John Wick 4 is one of my favourite action movies.

But as it goes against one's opinion, I will stay quiet.

eh. depends. for it's action part it does what it is supposed to do. it has action.
story depth? character depth? lore? i dunno.

there's these 3 episodes on Peacock as well with Mel Gibson in it. haven't checked it out but i don't think it will be much better than the movies. Even with Mel pushing from behind big time.

Thought it had a good 90's comic-book style and feel to it. Was fairly lengthy, made the theater experience worth while.

Hard to add John Wick to the overrated pile. A cool character that sits well with all the other action films.

It seems like it could be a good theater movie. I've only seen John Wick 1 and now the 4th one today.. So there was definitely some characters and parts that I was confused about since I didn't see the 2nd and 3rd movies. But overall I followed along easily

I'd recommend the first movie too though. I loved that one. A lot of people online said the 4th one compares to the 1st one with how great it is

For me, I thought Chapter 3 had to much filler dialogue and lore dumps. The majority of Chapter 4 was practically non-stop action, much more than the previous chapters (and perhaps too much).

Find a cheap $60 led projector that goes 120 inches wide and cover the whole wall to watch em.

That might be the trick to get the most out of it.

Watching films on a regular television sets just isn't the same as what a projector will do for the viewing experience.

i would do that with the Chronicles of Riddick though.

"Theatre movie" is probably the best way to describe it. The only John Wick films I saw in theatres was 3 and 4, and in a setting where other moviegoers could react to the stunts or jokes with you, the films were a joy to watch. And going back to 1 or 2, I felt that they were kinda great, but I definitely felt like I would have enjoyed those films better in a theatre setting.

It's for this reason that I'd put 3 as my favourite John Wick film, although 1 is also absolutely fantastic. 2 and 4 are alright.

Good choice in movie there.

Got a cheap led projector back in 2016 and it's night and day how much better films are on it. Still works today and it was super cheap.

Projectors are better for the eyes as well.

Which projector is that, I been meaning to pick one up?

If it was john wick 1 and you're action junkie I can understand

But john wick 4 is literally non stop action. They definitely succeed in making a pure dumb fun movie from john wick 2 onwards.

If you want narrative, I say go away from john wick. But for action it's one of the best.

Heck.... I believe Bryan from the movie "Taken" can beat John Wick. How?

Bryan Feats.
-Highly Skilled in Hand-to-Hand Combat and Weapon Disarm.
He took out 5 Mafia Members in a small room (take note that he didn't have any weapons on him), killed 2 with a kitchen knife, disarmed 1 to take his gun, and finished off the rest.

-Weapon Mastery
Very accurate with guns. Knows how much shots he has just from guns he taken from the bad guys. Even random objects he can use as weapons like a fire extinguisher, a glass bottle, and a table. Lol.

-Battle Intelligence
Very tactical when it comes to stealth when he snuck into a fancy party and a yacht. Not only that but he took out the bullets of a French Detective's gun without him even knowing.

-Stamina and Endurance
Took out an entire apartment of Mafia Members and guards in a yacht and still had energy left to spare. He did this alone with no weapons to start with.

I can go on forever but you get my point. :D

I laughed at the stairs scene at the end, come the F** on! ....who rolls down 10 flights of stairs without even trying to stop themselves.. That was unworthy of a JW movie

To me, it's not overrated; it's actually one of my favorite movie franchises. I also like the Kingsman movie franchise.
