Why? Because if your rib(s) were broken, the pain would be excruciating. And in the worst case scenario, broken rib(s) may puncture your lung(s). Since you are fine, it's fine.

After X-ray and tests, they determined it was "pleurisy". This is when the membrane around the lungs gets infected and swollen. I can't remember the reason for pleurisy, but antibiotics cured it.
