How can atheists live knowing they risk eternal punishment in hell?

Something that never made sense to me. Those who do not believe cannot be saved, and will go to hell, so why not believe? God has the power to send people to hell:

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28

And Jesus said:

Matthew 12:30-32: "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.”

It's actually just a thread to display indoctrination in various forms.

The pitting of atheist vs christian is just convenient for the english space as they are the two dominant modes of thought with the most familiar bodies of dogma behind them.

Japan's religious opinion of Buddhism is often just as derisive in online spaces, and some people even know the precepts well enough to argue that the religion has become corrupted by its own merits and reasoning. I remember at least one major flamewar comparing Buddha to Jesus.

They're all fake and get the same treatment from me. Christians seem to have a big problem with cherry picking the bible and only believing what is convenient for them. Which makes it even more laughable.
